We get Blackhawks buzzing the city a couple times a week for the last few years. Love watching them go by, but it does make you think.

About 6 months ago or so, I was on a detail in a parking garage up on the 5th floor, I hear a bird coming and it always gets my attention just for the cool factor, as I looked around, I saw 3 or 4 Little Birds escorting one Blackhawk across the city. Pretty strange site around here.
We always get a lot of air traffic here in NYC & I am in the flight path for most chopper coming & going to NJ from/to Manhattan.
I'm also between JFK & Newark Airports - so I also see their different flights depending on the way the wind blows.
Strange item I saw (near end of summer) was 2 fighter jets flying overhead in a circular path encompassing the toll booth & looping half way across the Verrazano Bridge (VB) for 20 something minutes. I was standing by the Coast Guard PX and moved down to Gateway Nat'l Park off the western side of VB. Twice I exited my vehicle to watch them. I'd say they were no more than 3K feet high.

Cams, there's a reason for that, and it's not as insidious as you might think.

No I understand that, I wasn't thinking tinfoil hats and black helicopters. As I was thinking about it today after posting that I remembered there were some SEAL's training in the area doing boarding on ferries and some ships here. It was most likely them heading back for the night.

No, it was the Black Chinook. I saw the flight plans.

Was it a Chinook? It's been months and my memory is resembling Swiss cheese these days.

Or you may just be busting my balls with the "Black" Chinook thing, I'm still working on my morning coffee and a little hungover. Dick.

Cool site either way.
