Re: Best Ranger Competition 2014
FORT BENNING, Ga. – The 25th Infantry Division team of 2nd Lt. Michael Rose and 2nd Lt. John Bergman have won the 2014 Best Ranger Competition, according to officials with the Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade.
The team clinched the top spot after a strong showing overnight and through the final day of events, which included the Darby Queen obstacle course, a spot jump and the final buddy run. They were able to push out front runners Capt. Robert Killian and 1st Lt. Nicholas Plocar of the National Guard, who finished in second place.
Rounding out the top three is the 75th Ranger Regiment team of Staff Sgt. Christopher Broussard and Sgt. 1st Class Charles Cogle, who finished ahead of fellow Ranger Regiment competitors, Cpl. Daniel Puckett and Staff Sgt. Eric Adams.
Of the original 50 teams to begin the competition, only 26 made it into the final day of competition. Eighteen teams were eliminated due to medical reasons. Six didn’t make the cut Friday night following the foot march event.

Re: Best Ranger Competition 2014
Just a quick post from the Atlanta airport:
What an amazing event, and what an amazing group of men - the competitors and Rangers past and present that I had the honour to meet!
My son and his partner finished in the top ten and are already making plans to return next year. Some unfortunate mistakes left them in 34th place on day one and they had to fight tooth and nail to make their way back.
In the keynote speech Admiral Mc Raven mentioned a quote on a coffee cup given to him by a former Ranger commander (sorry don't remember the name): God made Rangers so Navy Seals could have heroes, too.
Truer words...
