SITREP - Yggr
SITREP - Yggr
Rangers,
I made it to BCT... But I stress fractured my leg in week 3. My time here has been shitty hanging out with the quitters. I have used the time I spent on crutches to improve my pushups and situps. I can do 60 and 100 respectively now. I finished memorizing the standing orders too and all the weapon stats/everything else in the Ranger Handbook. I'm now on family day pass and I'll be recycled in a week or two hopefully.
As far as I've heard is I still have a spot in Airborne school and RASP. I will earn a slot back by being the best if I lost it. I hope I have not disappointed the Rangers here... I will continue to drive on to being a Ranger as long as I can. I cannot wait to get 'training' again.
On a side note: I have seen a lot of Rangers at Martin Army Community Hospital.

Ranger Jim,
I am on Family Day pass again with my new company. No issues this time with injury. I got my 2 mile time down to 13:24 on the last apft and feel confident that I can get the 5 miles in under 40:00 based on the 4.5 mile AGR's we do here all the time :D.
I also qualified Expert (37) with my M4. It feels much better to be working toward my goals in the Ranger Regiment.

Re: SITREP - Yggr
Ranger Jim,
I'm in A/co of the 1-507th. Graduation was long and boring and so was in-processing at BAC. The course seems pretty straightforward so long as I do what the black hats tell me and the class pt sounds like a bad joke. The class is shortened so I'll be jumping at the end of tower week since we're not doing the 250' towers.
Our class ended up not getting a weekend pass for all the graduates, but I've spent the days off with my family. My son was born about 2 weeks ago on the family note. He stayed home with my wife and I can't wait to meet him over Christmas break.
The pt test is on Monday so I'm just drinking lots of water and catching up on sleep. It's also pretty strange to be around all different ranks and be treated nice. I worry that I may offend an officer or NCO and get kicked out so I'm quiet usually.
I read quite a few books in Osut that I probably haven't mentioned here. I read Back in the Fight about SFC Kap, Violence of Action (which I LOVED), Where Men Win Glory (which was boring after Pat Tillman died), and a few Special Forces books just to learn as much as I could about Afghanistan's bad-guy networks. I very much appreciated that my drill sergeants allowed us personal reading material for those long Sundays.
Osut was pretty typical otherwise I think. I can't wait to get to the Regiment and train with people who actually WANT to be Rangers and go on the missions like in VoA. Many opt 40's dropped their contracts in Osut and we lost 3 yesterday at Airborne. I'm sure even more will leave after we get to Pre-Rasp.
That's all for now I guess.

Rangers,
Exciting news! My brother went through a selection the Air Force does for JTAC's and was picked up by the 75th Ranger Regiment! It looks like he'll be coming to Ft Benning to be with 3/75 in the next few weeks. Just one more reason to train extra hard and accomplish my goals!

Rangers,
I have linked up with G.I.434. He is in A/co with me, but is in a different platoon.

Re: SITREP - Yggr
Yggr, I can help you out with your two mile run time. I have some old Ranger friends who live in Columbus who own AK-47s. You can give them a call for motivation when you're running....it sure helped me in Viet Nam.

I never wore a cape, but I still have my dog tags.
