Another update. Completed one of the last graded portions of the class and the final practical test and the ATP test. The ATP tests your knowledge on everything from day 1 of the SOCM course. It is essentially a all encompassing final exam. Everything from pediatrics, to pregnancy, to malaria, and everything and anything in between. Yeah that was fun. Another week to go before break. We have our FTX next week, that will be the last official graded portion of the class. However, keep in mind that you are constantly being evaluated here, whether you are testing or not. There is a lot to the program that does not necessarily involve testing. Keep that in mind and although there is nothing said there is more expected of Rangers. That is just the way it is deal with it and live up to the expectation. When they tell you in RASP that being a Ranger is a way of life they mean it and it shows here very easily. You will learn who even of your fellow Rangers will last and who will not. Just the way it goes. Make sure that you have yourself squared away before you come up here.

Ranger Jim, I officially graduate on Jan 30, 2014. It is a long course to start with and then I had a minor setback during the one block. It will have been almost 1 year by the time I get to graduation. No assignment yet, we get those after graduation.

Ranger Steadfast PeterK has hit a wall in his training. I can elaborate however would prefer to do it in a PM if that is ok.

Another update, we are now on Xmas break. Our class got ours early since we will be leaving for our hospital rotations on 29Dec2013. The other 3 Rangers I am with I am proud to say have all successfully completed all of the "schooling" and passed our ATP exams. We got all of our rotation briefs today and I am excited to be going. I will be with one other Ranger for rotation. We will be going to Tampa General Hospital and doing rotations with Tampa Fire Rescue. Then it is off to Batt. The only problems people have at rotation is getting into trouble. So you keep your nose clean, remain professional, and remember who you are and you do fine.

If any medics to be have any questions please let me know and I will do my best to help you out.

Ok last update till I go to Battalion. We have essentially finished our clinical time here in Tampa. I was at Tampa General Hospital for my time. Now it is simply clean-up and re-fit and move out first thing Monday morning back to Fort Bragg for graduation and out processing. It was a great time, learned a lot but there is certainly more that could be had here. Just from one lowly person's point of view. Hopefully some of the input we passed along will help future classes.

Let me know when you decide on where you'll be staying. If ya'll settle in Smiths we definitely need to linkup sooner rather than later.

Congrats! Few Rangers command the same kind of respect that a Ranger Medic does!

Awsome job, brother. You are to be commended, as is your spouse. It is a difficult path to follow as it is, but with a family in tow? She deserves some kind of medal. I had a friend once tell me that when her husband was in a regular unit, she hardly ever saw him. but once he was in the Regiment he had much more time to spend at home. Ironic, no? Pre 9/11, but take it for what it is worth.

So go back to Bragg, turn in your kit, and get ready for the fun to really start!..

Rockstar, brother.. Rockstar..
