Have you taken the Farsi language test? If you have down time waiting to begin AIT, this may be a good opportunity. Never, never quit!

Ranger Jim,

I've started my classes and am expected to graduate AIT in early July. I haven't taken the Farsi test, simply because I can only speak the language, I can't read or write. I'm attempting to teach myself these next 4 months however. First phase of AIT is hard to have too much free time.
For those interested, this is what my AIT is like:

-0400 wake up
-0440 first formation/accountability
-0500 PT
-0600 free time, hygiene, breakfast, change to ACU
-0730 go to School
-0800 start classes
-0930 break
-1000 resume class
-1100 go back to company area for lunch
-1230 back to school
-1430 break
-1500 resume classes
-1630 leave school
-1700 Company Formation, mail call, discuss the next day
-1715 free time, eat chow
-1900 final formation, area beautification
-1930 free time
-2100 final accountability and ID card check outside your room door
-free time or sleep, whatever you want to do, but gotta wake up at 0400...

I'll keep updating as time passes

Rangers,

It's been a while since i've updated. I'm still at AIT on my 13th of 17 weeks. One warning I have to give to the mentees is to stay focused while at AIT. Not everyone will have the same motivation and dedication as you, many are just in it for the college money and could care less about our flag. Stay focused and keep up your own PT. If your AIT is as long as mine, there should be no reason not to have a 300+ on your APFT by the time you leave AIT. One of the other option 40 guys lost his contract due to an Article involving fraternization with a female. STAY AWAY from the females, they are not your friends and have no problem reporting you and they will always win that battle.

Keeping my head straight, hardest thing here is putting up with the lack of discipline. I already got my projections for Airborne and RASP!! I start Airborne on July 21st and start RASP on Aug. 31st until Oct. 23rd. I've completed my SSD1 and am officially certified in AC and DC circuits along with A+ computer repair certification. I'm ready to bring my skills to the Regiment.

My current PT stat:

Push-ups : 84
Sit-ups: 82
2 mile run: 12:42
Pull-ups: 15
5-mile run: 36:53

Good SITREP. Keep us updated on your progress. Don't forget to include pull-ups, as you need them in BAC. Never, never quit!

Roger Ranger Rangerjd. Roger Ranger Jim, I included my pull-ups in my last post.

Many of the other guys who recently graduated AIT, who had projections like I currently do, have been pushed back for their airborne slots. I'm afraid this will also happen to me, but oh well, just means more time to train. My current projection for airborne is still showing as July 17th in the ATRRS system. Will update in a few weeks, I'm set to graduate from here on July 8th.

This is not a unique experience. During the summer months, TRADOC tries to recruit as many HS and College students into the USAR/ARNG to take advantage of summer school vacation. Very often the BAC is loaded with these students, and the AD students must wait their turn. Drive on and never, never quit!

Roger, Ranger Jim. Graduating AIT in 13 days, not including today. Still haven't received orders for Airborne. Good news is, my platoon sergeant is allowing me to skip "inact" details after graduation so I can focus on training for RASP. I went on a short 4-mile ruck today with 45 lbs in 50 mins. I will post an update again as soon as I get my orders.

Quick SITREP:

I've completed my SSD1 training, trying to fast track from SPC to SGT. I have received a COA (Certificate of Achievement) during my time here at AIT. Tomorrow is the final exam for my AIT course and I'm set to graduate on the 8th. I'm pushing for either distinguished honor grad or honor grad and am currently on pace, but tomorrow's test will be the determining factor. AIT is easy, just pay attention and do what's asked. I currently have a 99.90% GPA in the class and I'm competing with a 99.92% GPA for the Distinguished Honor Grad. As for Airborne orders, still waiting. My battle buddy from the same class got his airborne orders today (not option 40) so hopefully I'll get mine soon too. On ATRRS, I'm scheduled for Airborne on July 17th, but we'll see what happens. I got engaged on Sunday and she's my biggest fan. More motivated than ever to show my worth at RASP.

P.S. to anyone looking for good boots to buy after Basic Training, I HIGHLY recommend a pair of Blackhawks. They're great for rucking and very comfortable on your feet. Will update again after graduation, hopefully I'll get my orders by then.

I'm officially MOS qualified as of this past Wednesday and will be graduating on the 8th as an honor grad. Now just have to wait on orders and continue PT. 10 Mile Ruck today. Will update again when I get my airborne orders. Happy 4th of July weekend!

Quick Sitrep:

I graduated AIT on July 8th, about 2 weeks ago now, with honors and have earned 3 COAs (certificates of achievement) and two technical certificates in my MOS field. Feeling extremely motivated! I'm still waiting on orders for Airborne School and I'm in holding here at AIT until I receive them. Being an "inact" aka hold-over isn't the greatest thing, but gives you more time to train. In holding, you mostly just do details for most of the day. Other times, I just work on my online correspondence courses for more promotion points and finished SSD1. Luckily, I have an awesome platoon SGT and allows me to do extra PT during the duty day and makes me go on rucks and 5 mile runs. Here are a few stats:

5-mile Run: 33:15 mins
6-mile Ruck (40 lbs): 01:29 hours

Will update once I get my orders, hopefully soon! Making the best of it until then.
