SITREP Mike

Post by Coqui »

Rangers I'm currently on family day. I've finally turned blue and graduation is tomorrow. OSUT was a very interesting experience, from reception all the way to now. it's weird you go from total strangers from all over the country to making some of the best friends you can have and your platoon becomes kind of like a family. At least mine did , experiences may vary.

Red phase was all that's really stuck with me because it was actually really funny from the shock of the drill sergeants and how they treat you the things they say to you and the things they do to make you look stupid.

The PT wasn't really insanely hard and it sucks you don't run as much as you should. i did a better job than most people not getting flustered and making little mistakes as much as others did. People who haven't shipped yet you'll see some guys can't even tie their boots when they're getting screamed at.

To be honest the only thing i had trouble with was land nav just because I've never really been inside of the woodline I've always lived by the beach.

As far as My pt scores they went up and down my grader on the last pt test made me stop for like15 seconds around 50 during the sit ups I wasn't going high enough and and it screwed up my pt score i had a 278
62 pu
72 su
1210 run

Im ready to get it to where it should be 290+ when i start airborne. Hopefully a 300+ by the time i finish airborne. I will continue to take it one step at a time and focus on the task at hand. I will now be on more often also because i finally will be able to have access to my phone after Friday. Thats all I've got for now Rangers

Good sitrep. Keep working hard and driving forward.

I'd like to point out something you said though and correct it. Your Drill Sergeants don't do things to make you look stupid, they just point out the stupid things that you do, so you all can learn from it, see each other's weaknesses, and then learn to help each other succeed, as a team.

Disappointed with my run i should ve ran faster i got stuck behind a bunch of cadets on the first mile but i should've made up for it as the run progressed. I have a meeting to go to with the Ranger liason with all the other opt 40s at 1900 il do another update after the meeting and it'll be my last one until the end of ground week

You might be surprised at how little an excuse means. You did not "get stuck behind a bunch of cadets", you let yourself follow a bunch of assholes who were going too slow! You do what ever you must to succeed.....next time knock them out of the way!

Pull-up number results are important too.
Be sure to include your pull-ups everytime you give a APFT.

Rangers ! Graduated yesterday and got my wings. The first jump was awesome nerve wrecking but an amazing feeling.
I was the first one out and was good until the jump master said standby and it felt like he damn near had get a crowbar to get the static line out of my hand and i looked at the ground. Then the holy shit this is pretty damn high feeling set in once i got the green light i jumped out and everything went well.
The night jump went good but i jumped like a foot before the platform so I didn't get as far from the c-130 as i would have liked.. So that was fun
Im currently in rasp holdover and pre rasp starts on tuesday got my packing list pretty much squared away i just need a collared shirt pants and a jacket

I will also conduct a pt test tomorrow including 5m and pull ups. Since one is about a week over due i believe.

Advice i can give for airborne use the latrine before getting rigged up and inspected.. Poor kid before the 2nd jump decided to hold it and the impact of the drop zone proved to be too much for his stomach and he shit himself. There's not many walks of shame longer than carrying the parachute ruck reserve and weapons case back to the pick up point having shit yourself. Other than feet and knees together and you'll be alright

I've seen senior officers and CSMs shit themselves on a jump. No big deal.

Get yourself squared away during Pre-RASP. Spend lots of time with your Blue Book. Never, never quit!

MIke I see you are repeating in every post you make you are failing to capitalize each I, only once did you do it. It is such a small detail to fail to capitalize the I is laziness on your part. Don't go back & edit it but capitalize the I from here forward. Loss of life happens because of small details omited at the wrong time. Dot all your small i and cross your t & capitalize your I.

Congratulations Paratrooper!
