92y option 40... advice?
20100316 is the day I ship for bct. I got a 92y option 40. Unit supply specialist. Why do they even get option 40? I only chose 92y because it had option 40… Which is my goal being in the army, to become a ranger. So what exactly does option 40 mean for me being in the 92y mos? Now I think that I should’ve waited for the option to become available with 11x because I don’t want a damn desk job! I’d really appreciate some advice.

Recall someone in 2-75 who'd been working as as an M-60 Gunner for months, before someone figured out he was supposed to be working in Supply. Supply lost out, re-classed him 11B, stayed in the line. Last I recollect, retired COL (O-6), Aviator. Worked with him other places, over the years.

You will still be doing what everyone else does: jumping, rucking, shooting, running. The 75th isn't like other units. Every swinging dick in the Regiment earns his place there.
If you're already unhappy with your choice, you have only yourself to blame...you signed the papers. I'd make the best of it, and be proud to be a Ranger (assuming you make it to Battalion). Be a stud.
Good luck to you.

X2 and congratulations for enlisting to be an Army Ranger. Actually, you have no idea of how important the job you singned up for is. Not only will you be a Ranger, if you make it, but you can grow into a postion in which you travel all over to visit defense contractors and buy special eqioment and weapons that Rangers will use. That may be one of the most important jobs in the Regiment. Read and heed the ROE PM I have sent you.EarthPig wrote:... The 75th isn't like other units. 1st off you don't know a thing about being in the Ranger Regiment or what a Supply Sergeant/Clerk does, especially one that lives in the Ranger Regiment. If you don't want to be a supply guy cancel your contract. I don't want you coming here if you're not going to be happy with your job. You will always have the opportunity to reclass to an 11B and if you come as 92Y. It's your career be smart about it. Now go do some fucking PT because half you fucks that come here are weak.jorclark0990 wrote:20100316 is the day I ship for bct. I got a 92y option 40. Unit supply specialist. just thought i'd share i am a hockey player, very well enduranced and have plenty of strength, though i know even that isn't quite enough. I've been pting 2-3 times a day, as much as i can. I only have 2 months before i ship and i want to be prepared. I signed the contract for 92y i'm doing it i just wanted some advice is all.

I would be a little careful, I've known SupplyRanger for quite a while. He is a man who works hard to ensure that the Ranger Regiment runs well. I look forward to reading occasional SITREPs as you earn your place in the Ranger Regiment.jorclark0990 wrote: just thought i'd share i am a hockey player, very well enduranced and have plenty of strength, though i know even that isn't quite enough. i meant absolutely no disrespect. i have a very high respect for rangers... anyone in the service for that matter. Supplyranger, i'm sorry if it seemed disrespectful.
Also, if any of you rangers have any sort of special PT you would consider for me before i ship, i'd love some help and a little more challenge to my normal running, lifting and pushups. I'd very much appreciate it, thank you.

Good save.
Read the PT forums; toughen your feet, work on perfect form (speed and strength will follow) and set a goal of maximum scores always.
That's the secret formula. Really.
Read lots, post seldom and do more PT.

Re: 92y option 40... advice?
All I'm saying is make sure it's what YOU want. I got it you want a shot at coming to the Ranger Regiment. Keep in mind you will be that MOS for atleast 3yrs before you can reclass. That means you will have to do that job for 3yrs before you can even think about switching. Its not a bad gig to be honest with you. I've been doing it for 8yrs in the Regiment. I like it. My advice to you is don't let those legs at Fort Lee get you out of shape. Continue to work out now and until you pass RASP-1. If you have a free weekend, go run or do something at the gym. PT! PT! PT! Do not slack off! Don't worry about lifting, focus on the main PT events. Perfect your push ups and pull ups. Make sure your cardio is good. I recomend getting into Crossfit or Jim Jones workouts if you dont do that already. If you like to lift, ween yourself off the supplements. I have plenty here at Benning that you can have if you make it this far. Stick with your decision and NEVER, NEVER QUIT!
Once you get to AIT, send me a PM. I will track you from AIT to RASP-1 graduation. Questions send me a PM.

Re: 92y option 40... advice?
awesome! thanks for the advice supplyranger. i wont quit. i run everyday usually 2 times a day about 30 min nonstop each time. sometimes ill go 45 if i only get 1 chance a day. ive done pushups situps and pullups all my life. I got really good at pushups durring hockey practices doing them in full hockey gear on ICE haha pissed off coaches like to do that a lot. I will definitely keep at it though, i want to be in the best shape possible when i get out there. ive never taken supplements before, just not really my thing.

Re: 92y option 40... advice?
Sounds like you work out. Trust me the instructors here are like machines, they don't get tired. Our instructors are probably the most fittest guys in the Ranger Regiment. The furthest you need to run is 5 miles right now and you want to be able to do that in 40mins or less. Build your cardio vascular system up and stay healthy. Basic training is going to get you out of shape. When you get to AIT you will need to PT on your own. Those fuck sticks at Fort Lee do not care about your physical fitness. You will do shitty PT and get nothing out of it. That is why its important to do it on your own. Look around this site in the PT forum and you will find some good info there.
