Wanted: Opords

Post by Titan12 »

Greetings Rangers,
Does anyone have any STXs and patrolling oporders they would be willing to share? I want to have the whole opord process down to an art for some training I have coming up in a week. My ROTC instructor had some old ones in his office we were practicing with, but the Army has him out of reach for the summer and I can't find any actual oporders online. I am not going to Ranger School just yet, but this seemed like the best place to ask.

Much thanks for the help and your service to our country.

I fear you are correct.

Op Order for Grenada.

Time: 0600

Location: Green Ramp, right beside the C-141. Engines were revving up and getting ready to load.

Unit: A Company, 2nd Battalion, 325th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. The only 82nd unit to fight beside the Rangers on Day one

As we were getting ready to get on the bird a Major came running over to our chalk and yelled at us to gather round. He laid a large aerial photograph of a runway on the ground and pointed at it. The Op Order then was issued:

"This is an airfield. You are going to jump on this airfield. Try to hit it. When you hit the ground ditch your chute and head to the high ground. Kill anything that is shooting at you."

Op Order ended and the Major went to the next plane.

Good times.

Almost identical to the mission order we got when we did an air assault into Krek during the invasion of Cambodia.

Most of my op orders were something like:
"Lefty, grab your gear and weapon and get on that slick"
"Where we going?"
"Ask your counterpart"
