Darby 8 Hour Pass Questions

Post by Barracuda »

Does anyone know where you pick up the guys that are getting their 8 hour pass after the Darby phase of Ranger School? Also, what time do they get released?

Back in the day, the 8 hour pass was actually closer to 4 hours and you were confined to camp. That was back in '01 time frame though. I would think a good place to pick them up might be out there at Camp Rogers if they are actually letting them go. Just my .02 though

ZoneIV- from what I recall from my time there, a student (or several) missed link up after the pass.
And maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but did they used to bring you back to Rogers in between phases for your refit? I seem to have a memory of a guy needing an emergency re-sole on a pair of boots after mountain phase at Ranger Joes.
I know for my class, we were given a few hours to do laundry at whatever camp, eat some lickies and chewies, and then either get on a bus or get rigged for jump ops into the next phase. Even watched an RI jmpi himself in-flight but that's another story.

I had my car and as I recall we had more than 8 hours at the end of Benning. Of course, I had to be careful so as to not hit a wooly mammoth on the road to Harmony Church.

I've had to do that once or twice.

Excuse my ignorance Rangers, but what's a lickie and a chewie and jmpi? I think the only word I understood from that was RI (Ranger Initiate), but then again maybe not.

From the end of 99 until the middle of 04 the 8 hour break from Camp Darby took place at Camp Rogers and students could be picked up by either family or a cab. Vehicles were not allowed to be driven by students and therefore, vehicles that they brought to Ranger School, remained in the secure parking lot. Any students caught driving could be dropped from the course. The only thing that I know about the break in Mountains and Florida, is that they were conducted at there locations with the exception of maybe Christmas break, then the recycles would come back to Camp Rogers prior to going on leave and some sort of break was possible. It is probably operated the same way today, but as Ranger Silverback previously stated, call Senior Tac and confirm.

ZoneIV wrote:JMPI - Joint Mandatory Penis Inspection. I will let you in on a closely held secret only Ranger "Initiates" know about. After any kind "break" in Ranger School, you and another will do penis inspections on each other. You just don't know what may be caught from the camp followers (Ranger "Initiate" Groupies - also known as lickies & chewies) that hang out just outside the gate. If there is an odd number of people in your squad then someone will end up performing this on himself. It is funny watching an "Initiate" contort himself to do this on himself.
