I started in August and got a day one in September and Darby will still hot as hell and graduated in Dec and Florida was cold as hell (30 degrees and it Rained for 2 days). Mountains it was hot duing the day and cold at night.

I had a far better time in Darby and the Daytime duing mountains and Florida. In the winter you got extra equiptment for cold weather and everthing is cold, your water is cold so it dropps your core tempature. I prefer the heat, but I just took a few doses of "Harden the Fuck Up" and got my Tab.

In the mountains today, Dahlonega is at 30 degrees with a 12 - 15 knot wind. Understand they have snow on the ground. Low tonight will be around 11 degrees.

As I've often said, no matter how miserable my life is, I know there are at least three guys who are more unhappy than I am: One at Benning, one in the mountains, and one in Florida.

Heart 'O the Summer...June -Aug 2000, but given the recent analysis and perspective here today, I cannot complain.

I had the misfortune of having to attend a summer and winter class , they both sucked. I just remember sucking more because I was always wet and sickly from the cold. You nailed that one Jim!

I have always loved this gem -

"As a company commander in combat...crawling around in the mud with an enemy machine gun hammering over my head...the crotch ripped out of my uniform..constipated...hungry...huge bug bites under my eyes...exhausted with days of intermittent sleep....I could always comfort myself by saying..."it could be worse....I could be back in Ranger School". That was awesome Lefty! That reminded me of the speech Gen. Mcaffrey gave my old BN before we deployed for OIF 3
about how proud he was about how far the average joe infantry unit had come since his Nam days, and he kept referencing having to low crawl to within 15 meters of an enemy fighting position with nothing but a bag of grenades...

KMAN,

I came from Texas to Airborne School, immediately followed by a RS class December 1 - Feb 17. Wet, cold, and miserable every day ... jut the way Training Bde planned it. I hated being w, c and m every day, but would have hated heatstroke just as much. You will learn to work effectively under the worst conditions, why try to duck the crappy weather?

Hoo-ray for the 36th Bde, bro. Go make us proud.

Slots to Ranger School got kind of hard to come by during parts of last year and now. However, there are definitely slots, I just sent one of my Joes.

Winter sucks...I couldn't wear jungle boots in Florida because of the steel plates. I had to buy those worthless speed lace boots with no drainage and got blisters like crazy. Then it was off to Dugway. Those same blisters started freezing up at night and caused frostbite, which almost got me medically recycled.

Then again, summer would suck too, but isn't that kind of the purpose?
