ACU replacement after RS

Post by Elmo »

Rumors during RS were that after you graduate, you take a copy of your certificate to your CIF and they will give you 4 new sets of ACUs and 1 pair of boots. My unit is telling me there is no DX, it is a gratuitous issue and you get 2 sets ACUs and 1 pair boots from AAFES Clothing Sales. My unit seems a little confused on how it works. I googled it and found this: http://tri.army.mil/LC/cp/cso/cso.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"In accordance with CTA 50-900, Ranger school attendees will be issued a supplemental issue of two sets of ACUs per table 3. (updated 06/09/06)"
Has anyone done this after graduation? If so, are you aware if it is the same procedure for officers and enlisted? Boiling, Weaver, and everything else RS reduced my ACUs to worn out, blackened rags.

well, if you're at Benning, they do a Code B (maybe, can't remember specifically what it's called) clothing sale once a month.

they warehouse all the clothing items of basic trainee quitters, etc, and then sell it, first come first serve, once a month. some is practically new, some was good, field quality. it's an easy way to plus up at a significant discount. better quality than the gear/pawnshops outside the gate of any post tend to have.

don't know if they still do it, but it was solid all through the 90s. I would assume they'd do it at any training post as well.

You're talking about the reclamation sale, they still do it here. Last Friday of each month at a warehouse on the northwest side of main post. I plan on going there at the end of May.

I did it when I graduated. I don't remember the paperwork, or how many sets... I don't remember getting boots either (Yeah I'm good for lots.. Just BDU's. I'm sure Officers don't get it because the Army is good at blowing off O's when it comes to uniform stuff.

Edit - Anyway..there was 1 piece of paper that the company had to fill out for the issue. If no one is helping you where you are at I'd call Clothing & Sales and see what they can do to let you know what it is.

Meh, we went to the thrift store and stocked up on the old green permanent press fatigues before reporting to RS. They were hot, but they wore like iron! lol

Correction, the reclamation sale on Benning is the first Friday of each month.

Ranger Panthersix, if greens can be described as iron, then ACUs would be tin foil. These things have a life of about 4-6 months, and that is with minimal field time.

Hell, I'd go back through Ranger School all over again, just to get 3 new sets of ACU's when I graduated.

Not that "I" ever did it personally, but we, I mean some guys used to go off post at HAAF and by old DXed jungle boots for like $5 and go back on post to dx them again for new boots.

You are suppose to receive the issue prior to going to Ranger school . Depending on how long ago you graduated, your local MCSS may grandfather the request. Your unit supply should give you a (DA 3078 and DA 7000). Have them fill out the paperwork for you and take it to MCSS along with a copy of your orders sending you Ranger school (DD 1610). Hopefully this helps you out.

Thank you SupplyRanger! That makes the most sense out of everything I have heard. The other day someone told me that RTB's S-4 gets ACUs for everyone graduating and hands them out before graduation. Each day I get a crazier story on how this happens. I will take this info to my S-4 tomorrow.

True Officers are responsible for the cost of their uniforms but the CTA does not state that the issue is only for enlisted guys. Its worth a shot in my opinion. I've never filled out the paperwork for an Officer but 99% of them in REGT are already tabbed so I can't say yes it will work or no it wont. All I can say is try it and see what happens. If he uses the power of nice to the MCSS manager I'm sure he can convience her to give him the uniforms.

I just watched for the O's to toss their jungles in the dumpster then fish them out and fill out the tags. I think I still have a pair somewhere. :shock:
