Mountain Phase vs. Mountain Warfare School

Post by blindside622 »

Greetings Rangers. Thankyou for the ridiculous amount of information on this site. I was just curious if the Mountain Warfare School could compare to the Mountain Phase in Ranger school. The reason I was wondering was I didnt not secure and opt 40 but I am going to stick it out and go throught with my initial 11x path. Would Mountain Warfare school be a good pre-RASP qualification to have under my belt if they are not alike? I want all the training I can get and I will never quit.
~Best Regards

I attended the Basic Mountaineering Course at the Northern Warfare School. It was a gentlemen's course and very informative. It gave me a good heads up for RS, so much so that I actually enjoyed mountain phase.

However, mountain phase is 1/3 of the school, and the shittiness of the other 2 phases made up for my brief period of enjoyment.

Thankyou all Rangers for the advice. I understand there are 3 phases Ranger PocketKings. I just saw myself having the most trouble in that particular phase but at the same time I am most interested in that part. Will I have to wait till I get to my unit before I can apply to go there assuming I dont get a chance to volunteer for Airborne and RASP after OSUT?
