12 Mile Ruck March

Post by tatro36 »

Hello Rangers,
I am beginning training for the 12 Mile Ruck March that they do at RASP. I know the standard is 3 hours, but I know that just making the time is not going to cut it to become a Ranger. I plan to start out at 3 miles (I've never ruck marched before so I'm starting with a shorter distance) and then building a mile a day until I'm at 12 miles, at which point I'll ruck 12 miles every other day or so. And i am packing the standard 35lbs.
I am not at all worried about the 2 and 5 Mile runs, because I run cross-country currently, and do 13min in a 2 mile and do just barely under 35 min for my 5 mile
However, If I'm wanting to be successful at RASP, what time should I go for on the 12 Mile March? I was thinking of going for 2hrs and 30min, as that's just over 12min/mile, but would like some input on what time I should go for.

Also, I'm curious, what are yalls current 12 Mile marches?

Thank you Rangers

Trent, knock off the posting for a while. Don't tell us about what you are going to do until you complete the AFTP test I assigned you several days ago.
