OSUT Airborne Slot

Post by JonVest »

I enlisted as 11X and did not get airborne. When I was going through MEPS my career counsler that wrote up my contract told me no airborne slots were available but I could go ahead and get the Airborne Physical so when I get to OSUT I will be more likely to recieve a slot. I have taken the Airborne Physical and wanted to know if there is any truth to this or was like usual the MEPS man lying.

Based on what I've read around here, you probably boned yourself by being in a rush. Hopefully, you'll like Ft Drum.

Read the option 40/RASP threads, the same process probably applies - do the very best you can and max that PT & maybe "they" will let you have a shot at airborne.

Thanks for the response Ranger Ingraham. Why would I go to Ft. Drum? I know I wont be able to get a option 40 because my GT Score is only a 100.

That was a bit of sarcasm. Since you have a slim chance of getting jump school without the option4 in your contract, you're most likely going to the "Big Army", which means being stationed in places like Ft Drum.
Read some of the RASP threads anyway, the process for earning a RASP slot in AIT/OSUT will likely work for getting a jump school slot.

You have made some absolutely silly statements in a single sentence not mentioning the language you have chosen to express yourself to Rangers you are seeking help from. First of all, there are far worst places in the US Army to be stationed then Ft. Drum NY. Ft. Irwin CA is a garden spot and perhaps more liking to your taste since you there aren't many "liberals" or really much anything else around it.

Speaking of "liberal New York"....do you realize that just because NYC is very liberal, this does not mean the WHOLE State of New York is that way. Do you realize that Ft. Drum is over 300 miles away from NYC?

You do need to learn to keep your mouth shut. In doing so, there is far less chance of proving how ignorant you truly are.

I served 3yrs at Ft. Drum, and to this day would jump at the chance to go to war with the men I served and trained with.

Biggest way to get fucked up in the Army is being a Pvt that lets his mouth overload his ass....I have a feeling you will learn the hard way.

For your sake, you better be praying to get Ft. Drum as opposed to Korea, Ft. Irwin, Ft. Riley, etc.

I apologize Rangers if I offended any of you. I respect all the troops especially Infantry and other similar combat MOS's no matter what Fort or Camp they are stationed at. I know NYC is very liberal and it shouldnt reflect New York state as a whole but there is no questioning that the state is liberal along with most northeast states (just look at election history). Ranger ZoneIV, no disrespect intended, but how can I be ignorant by pointing out the obvious? Also I can tell you I would rather be stationed in New York than California.

No jackass or cocky of a remark intended Ranger Richard Cranium but I am not technically ever going to be a PVT. since I am enlisting as a PFC, but PVT. is still in the title so I will give you that.

I WISH I could be your very first TL or SL.....I'd absolutely crush you and rebuild you into a soldier....MINUS your big fucking mouth. PFC or PVT, you're still nothing until you prove yourself, so don't kid yourself.

BTW, I've been a grunt my whole damn career, but your little comment pissed me off. Paraphrasing here," I respect all Infantry and similar combat MOS." BS!!!! You are a civilian nothing that is PLANNING to be a soldier, and as such, you should RESPECT EVERY soldier that is out their busting their ass for their brothers and sisters in arms, in some primitive 3rd world shithole. Every soldier doing it deserves respect for doing more than 99% of this country has the Sack to do!

Actually after reading all that you have written, your ignorance is the only thing obvious. Perhaps one day you will come to understand this. Oh yeah...if you actually make it, be sure you point out to any Drill Sergeant, NCO or Officer you encounter who may call you "Private" that you are a "Private First Class". Corrections like this are always welcomed. I do not want a response to this post. I have read enough from you.
