When I enlisted they told me there were no airborne slots or ranger slots so they convinced me to join with 11x and they told me anyone who wants to vol for airborne school or rip has a chance to at osut. Since then I have heard that they royally screwed me. So im wanting to know if i do have a chance for vol for airborne or rip at basic

If you can change it to an 18X you would be guaranteed Airborne School at least, and SF training to follow. My understanding is that they have plenty of those slots. But you'd better learn more about it before volunteering for it.

Bud, "THEY " told me, way back when, that I was needed as a commo guy. I told "THEM" I wanted to be a Ranger. "THEY" told me there were no slots. I told "THEM" to call me when there is. 30 Min later I was swearing in with a brand new Ranger contract.

Its all about what you want.

texasjoe, for god's sake man, don't go to one of those deals where you look at the timeshare condo in exchange for a free tv set. You'll be the proud owner of a week in February, for sure!!!

Alright, when I first enlisted, I did not have an OPT40. I asked for it, they said no, and I said, "Alright, I'll join anyways."

I'm the proud owner of an OPT40 today, and here's how you do it:

1. Find your recruiter, or call MEPS, and hound them.
2. Keep hounding them.
3. DO. NOT. QUIT. HOUNDING. THEM.

Sure, you'll be annoying. They might down-right get pissed at you. Doesn't matter. You want that OPT40? Make them give it to you.

Call your recruiter, do it now, and save yourself time. They can change things on your contract all you like, but they won't do it without proper motivation.

If you know a recruiter with a Ranger Tab, by chance, talk with them. Even if they're not your recruiter, talk to them. I don't care what anyone says about recruiters, if he have that Ranger Tab, you can trust him.

If they keep up the bullshit, give them this face: :x

Good luck, send me a PM, and keep me updated.

Yeah, yer fucked, and good.

Better scoot on down to that "recruiter" and start standing on his desk if you want what you want.

Otherwise, don't whine about your failings here...

The armor of which, you should know, doesn't stop squat. In fact, it might even be slightly magnetic when it comes to high-velocity metal...

Have you followed yer instructions yet? Been down to the recruiter's office today? How many times have you called?

No?
