Welcome to ArmyRanger.com Val.

I've updated your rank and permissions. Be sure to check out the mentoring zone and other areas. With only a few weeks before you head out, leverage what is useful on the site to get you better prepared.

Why do you want to serve? Did you play any sports in school? You've been out of high school for a few years. What have you been up to besides getting the associates.

I have always held a deep fasciation with history, particularly military history, ever since I was a kid. Before graduating high school I was going to enlist, however my wrestling coach recommended I go to school first and that's what I did. After that I spent a couple years in school and worked at HEB. HEB eventually became something of a career and took up most of my time, I was on track to becoming a department manager. However I found myself questioning on whether this is what I really wanted to do for the rest of my life, and decided I did not want that. I also had a growing regret that I did not serve in the army, especially after reading about many other great men who served. So I enlisted! Granted I feel like I did learn good lessons in leadership and teamwork during my time at HEB.

I spent my high school years wrestling a lot both in and outside of school. Afterwards I trained a bit inconsistently, however the past year I stuck with it pretty decently. As of late though I've been doing the usual stuff everyone says to practice for RASP such as rucking, running, pushups, etc.
It's interesting. I always enjoyed brain channel TV about war but never felt an overwhelming desire to serve, yet here I am. I have friends that had that overwhelming desire to serve and never did. The path you are getting ready to step onto will change you forever no matter how it starts, plays out, or ends. Glad you found the site to get yourself as ready as possible.

What is HEB? Did I miss it? Obviously I could Google it...but these forums were around before Google and so you ask people to inform you instead...

Have you self administered an APFT yet? If not I'd recommend you do that and report your scores as soon as is feasible.
