Roger, Ranger Dreadnought. I do my five mile runs on a trail loop near my house that has a good amount of hills on it. The two-miler in my initial post was done on a flat track, and the distance was a little short of two miles. When I do two mile runs on the trails near me it slows me down to around a 12:20 as opposed to around 11:00 on a track. I like running the trails because I know if I can meet a certain time crunch on them, meeting the same time crunch on flatter terrain is a walk in the park. Maybe I'll conduct my next five mile run at the local high school track to get a good comparison.

No need to explain yourself to me, but that sounds reasonable enough.

I have always found that if you want to make a particular physical event seem easier, just train on something harder. A 12 mile ruck is no biggie if you're used to busting your ass on an 18 miler.

Roger, Ranger Dreadnought. Agreed.

Conducted a self-assessed APFT + Chin ups today. Not very satisfied with the results. I was going to do the run at my high school track, but there was a soccer game going on. Did my usual trail route instead:

Push ups: 74
Sit ups: 72
2 mile: 11:59
Chin ups: 12

Really disappointed that I didn't improve my push ups, and I did worse on my sit ups. I've been doing a push up and sit up improvement routine on top of the RASP prep program for the last couple weeks, so I was expecting to do better. Sota and JDenges provided me with a couple push up and sit up routines/tips. I'll be trying them out over these next couple weeks.

Wrapping up this semester of college with finals next week. My last day at my current job will be May 11th. I'm looking forward to having a few weeks of free time before shipping out, but I'm also very eager to leave and begin this journey.

Went for a five mile run yesterday. Managed to do it a bit faster than last time.

5 mile run:
34:26

Looking forward to doing a few more before I leave to see if I can keep my times under 35:00.

Really great scores all around, Kyle. You can always be faster or do more push-ups. Just have to find what works best for you to meet your goals. Considering your goal is to join and pass RASP, I think you are doing well.

Ranger Disinfertention, your feedback is much appreciated.

This week started off with a PFT on Monday followed by a 5 mile run today. I woke up early Monday morning to make sure I could run at the high school track before school was in session.

APFT (20180514):
Push Ups: 76
Sit ups: 75
2 mile: 11:12
Chin ups: 15

5 mile run (20180515):
35:06

This was the first time I ran a 5 mile the day after doing a PFT, which definitely made it harder than usual. My legs were pretty worn out after the first mile, but I'm glad my time wasn't hugely affected. I'm fairly confident in my running ability right now, but I will continue to work on it along with my push ups, sit ups, and chin ups.

It seem like every update I post here is focused on PT, which I have been working hard at over these past months. Admittedly I haven't focused as much on things like memorizing the Ranger creed, or learning more about Ranger history. I just started reading Ross Hall's The Ranger Book which, from what I've read so far, seems to have a ton of great info. I've been reading and writing the Ranger creed a few times a day and I'll continue to do so until I've got it down.

Good update, Kyle. There are some key pieces of information to know before you leave that will just make your life a bit easier. Ranger history and the creed are easy ones. Only a few more weeks left... !
