Introduction - Nico14

Post by Nico14 »

Hello Rangers, I’m a 17 year old senior from Springboro, Ohio. I am in the process of acquiring an 11x Option 40 and have been looking through these forums for the past few months. I look forward to future responses from the Rangers on this site, I know you guys have been nothing but helpful to all mentees.

Nico,

Welcome to Armyranger.com. As you have noticed, we do offer quite a bit of content for those who are willing to read and participate. Great to have you here!

What part of the process are you currently in? Wishful thinking? Or are you actually talking to a recruiter already? Tell us a bit more about yourself on your next post when you let us know how far along you are with it.

Ensure you continue to read all stickies and FAQs you come across. If you have any questions about the recruitment process or anything else make sure you try out the search feature first. Also, Google is a hell of a trick these days too. It's better to ask us an informed question compared to us having to lead you by the nose all the time!

Again, welcome here.

I am done with preliminary paperwork as of 2 nights ago, as well as talked with a recruiter for much of the process. I turned in all of the paperwork and am currently waiting for the recruiter to get back with me on when my parents and I can go back into the office to talk about jobs available for me. Quick note, posted another introduction a few minutes ago thinking the other one had not submitted, the most recent PT scores were on that page.

Will do Ranger Disinfertention. As per the wishes of my parents, I will be stopping by the other recruiters in my town in order to gain information. Not too thrilled about that as I am ready to sign into the army now, but I understand why they are doing this. I will let you know how it goes if that is something worthy of posting.

Quick update for all Rangers and anyone new hoping for an Option 40 with a combat MOS as of January 10th, 2018, according to my recruiter, there was an email sent out to all Army recruiters explaining that the Army is not issuing any contracts with a combat MOS attached to it until late July and into August. The Army is flooded with too many recruits with a combat MOS and is in need of support personnel at the moment so my chance at acquiring an 11x Option 40 any time soon is slim to none. I turned down offers to join the other branches as I stopped by each of them to get information and they all could not offer the same benefits that Army could. Soon my parents and I will go to the recruiter, when he finishes processing the paperwork, and get my 17 year old waiver signed so I can begin the process of acquiring the Option 40 and taking the ASVAB formally.

This is a good attitude, ensure you keep it. It's been some time since a person has come to this site with hopes of an OPT40 and then fucked it up at MEPs and gone with something else. But DEPs here have done it. Don't be that guy. It's your career, stick to your goals and never accept anything less than that. 8)
