introduction

Post by steele31 »

Hello Rangers and civilians aspiring to be rangers! My name is Noah and I am 18 years old. I have been in the process of joining the army for 7 months now due to some complications. I had knee surgery when I was 9 years old for a torn ACL. I understand that's a big thing but it is non existent now for I have played 12 years of football, wrestled for 2 years, i ran cross country and track and
played basketball. My knee is more then 100%, but while at meps i drew a
knee waiver because of the surgery and i drew an eye consult because my
glasses. i have vision correctable to 20/20 though. There is nothing more that I want to do then be a Army Ranger! I look forward to meeting each and everyone of you guys and hearing what you have to say!
Thank you
Future soldier

Thank you Ranger Jim and RangerJD! I am actually on my way to the hotel today and MEPS tomorrow for my eye consult, my recruiter says this is the day I find out if I can get in or not. I will self administer an AFPT right when I get back home on Wednesday and let everyone know. Even though I have this consult and my recruiter seems to think this is the deciding factor, I made sure to let him know that if all goes well I am not signing anything that doesn't have an option 40 in my contract. I have read enough conversations on here to know they will try to BS me and I wont have any of that so I hope my recruiter is on my side with this and can find me a contract with option 40. I will keep you all posted on what is happening as soon as I myself knows.

Hey Noah, welcome to the site. Let us know how MEPs went as soon as you can...

If they told you something off the wall and you have a question make sure you research it a bit first.

Sorry for the delayed response Rangers! I got back from MEPS yesterday afternoon and administered a PT test right when I got back.
push ups- 90
sit ups- 95
pull ups- 15
2 mile- 16 mins
I know my 2 mile sucks but I am currently training for it as it has been several months since I ran. like I said I ran cross country and track so I know I can get back into things its just a matter of training and running consistently. I have been reading on here and I have seen different answers for different situations but a lot of which are pointing towards no option 40 or 4 with medical waivers.
like I said I tore my acl when I was 9 so they automatically had to send a waiver for that and I got a waiver sent up for a stigmatism. My recruiter said the eye waiver wont be the problem its the knee waiver that will. I would really appreciate if you Rangers could shed some light on whether or not that knee waiver will be the death of my option 40 chances. I have read many forums and searched medical waivers but have seen so many different answers I would really appreciate it!
thanks!

I would say there is a chance but you will need to ensure your waiver resets your PULHES to all 1's. Not sure how feasible that is depending on your case and you need to be aggressive. Tons of men and women roll through MEPS. You're not special to them... Good luck.

Sorry Rangers for not being active I have been waiting for my waivers to come back and they successfully did yesterday. Today I met with my recruiters and I was unable to get my PULHES to all 1's. I have one 2 in there so I was unable to get option 40! I will be going to meps Monday Tuesday to talk about my contract I reserved being a 68C. I know it's not 68W but there was no available slots. I always wanted to do 68C but I didn't think I was qualified. Turns out I am and I am going to meps to talk to my liaison. Maybe when I get there I'll see if 68W is available and if so I'll take it! Everyone I have talked to says my MOS is perfect and one of the hardest ones to obtain! I got one of the last two seats available. I will let you all know how meps goes and what mos I successfully pick! I am sorry I couldn't get that option 40 I really really wanted it but all things were saying and pointing towards wasn't happening because of my waivers! Maybe I can get it in boot! Thank you for all your help I truly truly appreciate it!
