Hello all,
My name is Will, I am 23 and I am currently working in the environmental field.
This past Monday, I enlisted into the Army with an 11x Option 40 contract. Scheduled to ship out 09/05/17.
Very excited to have come across this site and the plethora of knowledge that is on here, and am looking forward to interacting with many of you as I begin this journey.
Thanks to those on here that have served, are currently serving, and those who intend to in the future.

Thank you, Rangers for the welcome! Glad to be here.

A little about me:
Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to serve in the military, particularly in a special type of unit. Our men and women in uniform have always had my utmost respect. Both of my grandfathers served in Korea, one in the Navy, one in the Air Force.
I knew that I would join at some point, just wasn't quite sure when. Have had multiple opportunities to pursue a very well- paying career, but I have to decided to go for something bigger than myself. Reading stories about the Rangers has really fired me up as to something I'd like to be apart of one day. I have a lot to learn, but I want to soak up as much as I can. I know nothing.
Since the age of 12 or so, I have been a very avid hunter and gun nut. Also spent a few months guiding western trophy hunts a number of years back.
Played quite a few different sports early on, everything from baseball to golf. I believe I got my competitive drive from my father, who would put me in extreme pressure situations so that in a tournament or a match, I would be ready for the excitement that was to come.
My family and my faith are two things I hold very tight, being the oldest of 4.
I am looking forward to the camaraderie and adventures to come, whatever or wherever they may be.

Nice update Will. Just know that with the special units everywhere in the military, there are still tons of professional men and women who serve at every level in each branch. While we (with great bias) rank some of those in a variety of ways, don't take anything for granted when it comes to service and once you serve. Everyone (almost..) earns it. Some people earn it a bit more... and if you're me, you earned it twice because you made a mistake :)

Took a PT test today. Graded by my Navy buddy.
63 Push-ups
53 sit ups
14:03 run
Lots of work to do.

SITREP 20170404
Almost 5 months out from shipping. It will be here before I know it. Using this time to immerse myself in this forum, finish up college for the time being, and spend time with family.
Currently on week 1 of the Fortitude training plan from Mtn Tactical, which implements lots of loaded endurance work. This, along with calisthenics, I think, will aid in becoming a more durable athlete.
Very grateful for this resource thus far, and will continue to work on my task list.

It is a company that develops thoughtful training plans, with a primary focus on mission-direct, functional fitness for millitary, law enforcement, EMT, etc. I enjoy the challenge and structure of the workouts.

Sounds interesting. Think I've heard of a similar concept for a company/website. I assume there are variants of it. I will check it out. Thanks.
