OK I have a question then. How is the MEPS doc getting your nystagmus? There is no vision test that I am tracking that has you looking directly at one point for over 30 secs. You do a typical H test where they have you watch the pen or whatever, if you get a little at the end points that is ok but if you say that you need to stare at one point for over 30 seconds to see it, that seems odd that they would even catch that. And you say that it does not matter where you are looking right? If that is the case the doc is right you are disqualified by the Army Regulation. DId they do an exam the second time as well or just pass your waiver on up?

Ranger Grim666,

The only record of my Nystagmus is the medical records I have from when I got discharged in 2009, including the EPTS Board findings. I have not been back to MEPS since I have been discharged. Both of the recruiters that I have worked with stated that I will not be able to go to MEPS to perform a new physical, including a new eye exam, unless USAREC approves it or approves my medical waiver.

Ranger Jim,

There have been no new developments yet. I have talked to several other recruiters and none are willing to help since the medical waiver has been denied by USAREC twice already. My Congressman has also attempted to help by sending a letter to the Department of the Army, but that did not result in anything. I am determined not to quit, but I do not know what further steps I can take at this point.

Rangers,

I have followed Ranger Grim666's advice and contacted USAREC in regards to my denied my medical waiver. I received a call this week from my recruiter stating that USAREC is reconsidering my denied medical waiver. They have given me the go ahead to take a new physical. I am currently awaiting an appointment for MEPS next week.

Ranger Jim,

Based on talking to my recruiter, I expected to go to MEPS for a physical this week, but that did not happen. I have been following up with my recruiting station on a daily basis and they are still waiting for word back from LA MEPS to set up an appointment for me. I am currently also working with the recruiting station commander since my recruiter is now in the Advanced Leader Course.

Hopefully I will hear word back soon to set up an appointment to take my physical at MEPS. I will post an update as soon as that happens. In the mean time, I will continue studying the Ranger Creed and Ranger History and work on improving my PT.

Ranger Jim,

Unfortunately, my MEPS trip on 20160520 did not go well. I reported to MEPS on the morning of 20160520 and was told that I was scheduled for the wrong exam by my recruiter. Instead of scheduling me for a full physical examination, I was only scheduled for a med inspect. I have talked to my recruiter, and I will be heading back to MEPS on 20160531 - 20160601 to retake the ASVAB and do a full physical examination.

Ranger Jim,

My MEPS appointment is once again screwed up. It turns out my recruiter did not project me for MEPS this week as promised. I will be busy with work commitments next week, and will not be able to go to MEPS. I will inform my recruiter to project me for MEPS the week after next (20160616 - 20160617).
