Ranger Jim I have decided that I want to enlist in the Marine Corps, and go to the Recon Selection and eventually MARSOC, I was talking with multiple SF and marines this past weekend in Reading, PA for WWII weekend, and picked their brains quite a bit. I also think this would have a healthy competitiveness between my twin brother and I considering he still wants to go the Ranger route. I would like to thank you and all the other Rangers on this site for the multitude of information and advice available on here. Apologies if this decision lets you or any other Rangers down. I will always have the utmost respect for Rangers and men of that caliber, again thank you Ranger Jim.

I just got this PM. His decision.

If he's done his research and wants a different path, I have no issues with this. His life. His goals.

I'll shake the hand of any young person willing to step up and serve in whatever capacity they can.

I say good luck and kick its ass if that's what you want young man. Same rules apply. Never quit.

Agree with cams but I'thought the Marines would have tried to keep two brothers together. Getting another "Battle buddy just isn't the same - these will be the crossroads of your life. Hasta la vista Sully2490. You both can always join the USNAVY and ask to be able to serve together on the U.S.S. The Sullivans. I was here in NYC (in attendance) with my Disabled American Veterans Post when the vessel was commisioned.

I agree good luck to him. He chose a different path and I too would shake his hand. He still has decided to do what less than 1% do and enlist. I would like to see his progress too. Sometimes it is just as encouraging to see even though they may have chosen a different path. Reminds me of the one kid on here. Name is escaping me at the moment but has a heart bigger than 90% of the DEPS and went to the Navy as Intel. Worked his way onto the better side of the house and was working for a slot into one of their SOF units after the Army said he was DQed. That kid has been on a journey for years now and still has not given up.

Sully2490 wrote:Ranger Jim I am joining a Crossfit gym tomorrow. I have been running, rucking, doing sit-ups, pull-ups and flutter kicks. I have been in contact with my recruiter who happens to be Ranger in 1/75. Me and my twin brother plan on signing our 11x option 40 contracts within the next month or so. This year I have been exploring my options with other units and I have set my sights on The 75th Ranger Regiment, I know I said to you I wanted to join the Corps but now I am more than sure this is the route I want to go.
Post a PT test results (include pull-ups) and tell us what made you change your mind. Never, never quit!

I have alot to improve on especially running which is my weakness. I changed my mind because the more and more I learn about Rangers and their history, the more it motivates me to become one. One thing that really stood out to me was Rangers unrelenting desire to succeed and to never quit, I hope to have the honor of serving with men of that caliber one day. I will push myself everyday to earn my shot at RASP . Never quit.
You added 19 seconds to your 2-mile run. That is not the right way to improve your scores. Never, never quit!
