Intro - Jon (BCMMidlength)

Post by BCMMidlength »

Hello, my name is Jon and I'm from the lovely albeit very rural eastern panhandle of West Virginia. I'm a fresh high school graduate and I work on a farm that raises and grows turkey, cattle, corn, and hay. I've been into guns since I was just a pup. I got my first gun when I was 12 and I've been collecting and shooting and honing my skills ever since. As far back as I can recall being a soldier was all I wanted to do. I was always a big reader when I was younger and my now ex step-father (who claimed to be a D-boy but I can neither confirm or deny that,) gave me a copy of Black Hawk Down and I was hooked. I knew I wanted to be a Ranger, I knew I wanted to be direct action; and I always knew when I joined I'd embrace the suck and get to where I waned to be. I got an ASVAB score of 82 and I don't quite remember my line scores but they are definitely above the minimum requirements, I checked about a year ago. I'll get in touch with the recruiter this weekend and get my scores and update. I'm planning on an 11x Opt. 40, but as I said I need to head down to the recruiters office this weekend and hopefully iron it out.

PT scores:
Pushups: 73
Sit ups: 72
2-mile: 15:00
Pull-ups: Don't have access to a bar at the moment but I will get on that as soon as possible

I've lifted weights for a while but I've been severely lacking when it comes to cardio. I understand I need to get out there and bust ass until I improve my scores and I've been running every day starting this month. My time management has been awful but I intend to improve before I (hopefully) get my contract and ship out. I'd love to get some sort of mentorship if anyone wants to show me the way. Thanks for taking the time to read this and thank you for all the incredibly useful information on this site.

Roger, Ranger Jim. I'm working at my PT scores. I took note of the improvement thread earlier and I will start that routine tomorrow.

Roger, Ginger and Ranger Ron, both messages have been read and replied to. Thank you.

I stopped by the recruiting office today and had a talk with a recruiter. I told him I was not going to enlist until I got an Opt. 40 contract. He's going to pull my SASVAB scores and call me within the next couple of days. Hopefully it'll all work out, but it's late in the year and I anticipate I've got some waiting to do. At that, Rangers, DEPs, and all other Army Ranger forum users; I'm going for a run. Hope everyone has a good day.

Roger, Ranger Jim. I've since filled out a bunch of packets and forms I can't remember the name of. Currently no Opt. 40 contracts available so I'm just gonna have to wait it out and brush off the recruiters attempts to BS me. At any rate, it gives me more time to get into shape.

Keep your eyes on Perryb - he will post when opt40 come up & are available. Down in the Recruitment Forum.
Here's a sample of what Perryb posts. But you can always have your own recruiter look it up for you.

Big Update:

I got my contract today. 11x Option 40. I go to MEPs this monday and my ship date is 20141112

I'm excited as hell but I'm trying my best to keep my sights on the 25m target.
