Intro-John

Post by seattle91 »

Hello,

My name is John and I joined to look for information on joining the army. I'm 23 years old and have a BA in Communications. I've always had an interest in emergency medicine so I will be specially looking for information on being a medic in the regiment. I'm drawn to the challenge both physically and mentally of joining an elite unit.

My PT scores are embarrassingly low; I have searched and found some programs here on the forum that I look forward to starting tomorrow. I look at the process of getting in good shape as my first serious challenge to see how bad I want to succeed in joining the military. Thank you for the resource and I will put it to good use.

Thank you,

John

Hello,

Well the results are not pretty;
34 push ups
65 sit ups
15:58 2 miles
3 pull ups

I have a lot of work ahead of me! I found the push up workout posted by Ranger Silverback; I will be starting that ASAP.

In my free time I enjoy fishing and hunting. I work full time in the outdoor industry.

Thank you,

Ranger Jim,

Sorry, I forgot to post the answer to your question about a specific MOS I'm looking into. 68W is the one that I have the most interest in pursing. I've always been fascinated by emergency medicine so this job seems really up my alley.

Thank you,

Seattle91, from time now only use your board handle. I edited out your last name. PERSEC is important. If you make it, you want as little info as possible out there.

You know me. Next time I see you we'll talk PT and mentorship options.

Please look at the letters from school thread and you will find a number of entries from Ranger Medics. Second, you have plenty of PT work to do but now you have established your PT baseline, use it to measure your progress, Never, never quit!

John when you sign a contract let me know. I was mentored by a great medic on here and am paying my dues forward by trying to help the future medics. That being said ensure that you read the pipeline for medics in the regiment and what is expected of you. Good luck!

Nah, He's prolly just another poser..

John, there has been a great deal of info come down the pipeline from Grimm, and others recently. If you want to be a medic in the Regiment, this is the place to start. Preparation is the the key; physically, mentally.. everything. The more you do to get ready, the greater chance of success you will make for yourself. It is probably the second most popular MOS, definitely one of the harder ones, but also one of the most rewarding.

...but don't take my word for it. All I did was hand out foot powder & earplugs. Read it from someone who was actually shot at in anger.
