Intro - Chris

Post by Hagies »

Hello Rangers, my name is Chris, 21 years old and have my goals set to become a Ranger. I'm currently working towards getting in the shape I need to be before signing a 11x option 40 contract.

My APFT scores are:

Push ups: 63
Sit ups: 78
Run: 14:30

Need a lot of improvement but I will get there. Also, just want to say thank you to all of the Rangers on here who have given everyone advice on here as i have been "lurking" these forums for a few months now reading every little bit I can, just now decided to make an account.

Chris, a man has only one opportunity to make a favorable initial impression. So far you leave a lot to desire. If you truly want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. We at armyranger.com take a great deal of pride in the young men who pass through here on their life journey. Your PT score is a baseline to build on -- but add pull-ups to your workout. Please tell us where you are from and why you want to be a Ranger. Most of the questions you might have can be addressed by using the search feature, located on the top right of this page. Please read the FAQs, as well as select stickies and threads. Never, never quit!

Roger Ranger Jim. I am currently at 11 pull ups so that needs improvement also. I'm always striving for improvement!

I recently set my goals on becoming Ranger in the 75th Ranger Regiment after recovering about 2-3 months ago from a knee injury while running. Previously, I had my goal set on becoming a US Navy SEAL. My PT scores were good enough for a contract, but about 2 weeks before signing a SO contract with the Navy, I injured my knee running long distance.

I'm taking that injury as a good thing though. While recovering, i realized I had tunnel vision and never even considered the Army. After reading up on the 75th Ranger Regiment for those 2-3 months, I was sold. Don't get me wrong, I still have major respect for the SEALs that have and are currently serving, I just found that being apart of the 75th Ranger Regiment is something I want more than anything.

I used to run long distances (15+ miles) until I injured my knee attempting to complete my first 19 mile run. Now, I am starting from square one, back at 4 miles increasing my .25 miles every week, striving to earn my spot as a Ranger.

Thank you again Rangers for everything you have done for this country and for us young men who only strive to follow in your foot steps.

Ranger Jim, Jupiter beach is fairly close to me (roughly 20 mins). Awesome place to fish.

I did not fish. Sikorsky helicopters had a test facility, and more alligators than I saw in Florida Ranger camp. Never, never quit!

Ranger Jim, yea there are tons of alligators especially down here. Not exactly sure where the Florida portion of the Ranger Swamp training takes place but down here near the everglades you cant walk 100 yards without bumping into one!

Really looking forward to eventually going through that portion of Ranger school since I've been hunting the swamps my whole life, so I'm extremely comfortable in those conditions. One step at a time though! 25m target.

Updated APFT scores:

Push-ups: 70
Sit ups: 83
Run: 14:17
Pull ups: 12

Dropped my run time by a little bit by doing 60/120's and 30/60's. I am currently doing the 100 push-up program and that's really helping my score. Still striving to drop that run time and increase those push ups, sit ups, and pull ups.
