I spoke with a recruiter this morning and he gave me a packet to fill out. I was informed that I'm not eligible for DEP until after I've graduated because my school has a self-paced curriculum and they've had people fail to meet the deadline before (yes, the 12 MONTH DEADLINE.) He also called up another recruiter to ask about getting the contract and was told "Hah, 68 whiskey with an Opt.40? Good luck with that." He then tried to railroad me by asking which was more important 68w or the Opt.40 and I said the Opt.40 and tried to convince me to look at 11x saying it would be much shorter and more readily available. However, I told him I will wait as long as it takes to get the 68W Opt.40.

Note: I will be posting an updated APFT next Friday 04/25/14.

Ark,

First you obviously have plenty of time so don't sign anything you are not willing to live with. Second if you truly want to be a Ranger Medic then get the Opt 40 in the contract. Lately it has been a little bit harder to volunteer as a medic at Airborne. Not sure if that will change soon or not I will let you know. But as of now definitely get it. I was 34 yrs old and was still able to land one. Just have to be persistent. Also having a good recruiter helps!

1. When you self-administer a PT test do all the events at the same timeframe.
2. Have you gotten back with a recruiter?
3. How was your trip to DC?

Roger Ranger Jim. I have been in touch with my recruiter and turned in my SF-86 last week. And my trip to DC was great! we were able to visit the WWII and Vietnam war memorials as well as Arlington where I witnessed the changing of the guard. We also stopped by a few of the museums where I met a Navy pilot named William "Bud" Orr who was doing a book signing . Over all it was a very interesting and educational experience.

And my apologies for the late reply Ranger Jim. My family and I are moving to our other house and it has been very time consuming.

Update. I apologize for how long it has been since I've last posted as I haven't had internet and have been fairly busy with the move. I had one last EOCT (End Of Course Test) that I had to take and I missed it by ONE day, so now I'm stuck until sometime in late July. I've memorized up to N of the Ranger Creed so far and am continuing towards complete memorization. On a final note I learned a valuable lesson: Women aren't worth it (or at least not right now.)
