Nos440 Intro

Post by Nos440 »

Hello Rangers, my name is Nos440. I'm 19 and have already signed my 11X Option 40 contract with the ship date of 20150914. I'm currently trying to get in the best shape possible I ship out. My current PT scores are

Push Ups: 81
Sit Ups: 86
2 Mile Run: 15:37
Pull Ups: 20

I'm 5/6 and 130ibs so I'm pretty small but I'm honered to be giving the opportunity to try out for the 75th Ranger Rgt and I won't let anything get in my way of earning a spot among the best. Aside from working on my running time I would greatly appreciate any advice from any current Rangers. Thank you

Welcome Nos440 to the site, you've got a short period of time to prepare yourself physically and mentally. Your PT scores aren't bad, but you need to continue to improve until you leave, especially your run. You need to try to get that down to 12:00 minutes. Read the fitness thread, there's a lot of information there. Every time you train, force yourself to do one more of whatever you're doing, train your mind to push the limit, every time. Your mind will quit long before your body gives out. Give everything you've got, every time you give and never, ever quit! RLTW

NOS,
The best thing you can do to improve run is 1/4 mile sprints... Your goal should be 90 seconds every time.

I'd start with 90 second rest period (worst case), and reduce the rest proud by a little each day. Ensure you do at least 12 sets. This will get you sub 13:00 in as little as 2 weeks if you're alternating run days.

There's a ton of advice and internet help on these subjects, but as a PSG, I can tell you my #1 killer of new guys is not their lack of physical fitness, but their lack of care and maintenance. You can be a PT stud all day, but if you tear your rotator cuff before you get to your platoon. You can't preform at where we need you.

All in all, you've got direction and motivation apparently. You should always strive for your best and then some, but I'd rather an 80% PT Ranger that can do it for 4 years, than a stud that breaks himself in first month.

Hello Rangers,
It's been a while since I've logged on here's a quick update. I ship out for OSUT in two weeks and I'm pretty excited. I just got married last weekend and I've been spending as much time with my wife and son before I ship out. Thank you Ranger Jasper for the advice iv managed to get my 2 mile down by 2 minuites! I have yet to time my 5 mile I had been running 4 miles every other day in about 31 minuites and unfortunately I developed a small case of plantar fasciitis and my doctor advised me to go back down to 2 miles until it's fully healed. I have also memorized the Rangers Creed, Infantrymans Creed, and Soldiers Creed.
I'm going to continue to pt my ass off until I ship and do my best to get into Ranger shape before RASP.
