Second Introduction- Logan
Hello, this is my second introduction, since I have not posted or been very active on this site for a while. My name is Logan, and I am currently still in high school as a senior. I'm 18, and back in November I enlisted in the Army in the Delayed Entry Program. I enlisted as a 25B (Information Technology Specialist), and I did try to at least get a RASP contract, or an Airborne contract, but I was unsuccessful in doing so. My career goal in the Army is to be in the regiment, so I will do whatever it takes to get a slot to go to RASP. I have heard that I can volunteer during AIT, and I plan to do so if I get the chance. I ship to Ft. Benning on July 15th for BCT and AIT at Ft. Gordon. I actively push myself to get better in my physical training, because there is always room for improvement. I have grown up around the Ranger community, as my dad has a scroll and tab, so I look forward to following his footsteps in the Ranger Regiment. Lastly, I would like to thank the Rangers in this forum for taking the time to interact with those who are looking into the Regiment. Thanks! I look forward to being an active participant in this website in the future!
Re: Second Introduction- Logan
Welcome back, Logan. Please post the results of a self-administered PT test on this thread. Hopefully, your scores will improve over last year. Don't forget pull-ups. Never, never quit!

Re: Second Introduction- Logan
I have self administered my PT Test and the results are not quite at 80% Ranger Standard but they will improve!
Push-Ups : 60
Sit Ups : 75
2 Mile Run : 15:23
Pull Ups : 8
Then I did a 2 mile ruck earlier with 50 pounds and I got it around 30 minutes

Since your January 2013 test, your run, push-ups and sit-ups have improved. Your pull-ups are unchanged. You have less than 90 days until you ship. Never, never quit.logan1995 wrote:I have self administered my PT Test and the results are not quite at 80% Ranger Standard but they will improve!

Re: Second Introduction- Logan
Hopefully I can get a slot to RASP. That's my #1 priority as of this moment besides improving my PT Scores.
Re: Second Introduction- Logan
Ranger Xray, I tried to see if they had any Option 40 slots available at the time, but the Army isn't really giving slots to 25B's at the time in terms of contracts. The way my recruiter explained it, it was that so many 25B's and other support MOS' were using the Option 40 for just airborne, then quitting at RASP, or they weren't prepared for RASP and either quit or were dropped, so the Army thought that not giving away contracts to those MOS' would sort of weed out the people who really didn't want to be at Regiment, and the people such as myself who really want to be at Regiment will find a way to make it to RASP one way or the other, while the other guys who just wanted airborne are at airborne and not waisting the Regiments time and money by going there just to quit
Re: Second Introduction- Logan
Interesting. By the way, you mentioned that your father served in the 75th Ranger Regiment. Has he been monitoring your PT? Has he been mentoring your preparation for BCT and AIT? Have you memorized the Ranger Creed? Never, never quit!

Re: Second Introduction- Logan
Ranger Jim,
My father has been preparing me to enter RASP. He went to Ft. Gordon a couple weeks back and got a chance to speak with some of the cadre for the 25B AIT, and the cadre told him I would be able to volunteer for RASP most likely while I'm at AIT. I've started the 12 week RASP workout found online, and am starting it before I go to basic training, so I can stand out in terms of PT, and just maybe volunteer is a Ranger Recruiter comes around in basic, which isn't likely, but I'm not taking chances to not get a slot into RASP. My father and I get up around 5 AM before I go to class and before he has to go to Ft. Bragg and we workout. He's been giving me PT Tests every 2 weeks, as well as supplemental smokings when he's around during the day and I screw something up. I have bought a Ranger handbook and am beginning to remember the creed and learning about everything there is about the Regiment.
