IFAK Carry

Post by musicmano3596 »

Evening Rangers,

I have been working on creating my own individual first aid kit/CLS bag, and I am looking for advice on equipment to include.

As of now I have the basics (chest seal, NPA, CND, quicklot gauze, Israeli bandage, shears, SAM splint) but I was wondering what the medics have carried/carry, what they made their soldiers carry, what they recommend, and any tricks of the trade they have learned along the way.

A little follow on questionnaire,

I know that the doctrinal needle for a CND is a 14 gauge...I have read of people using 12 instead, wondering what the advantages of doing this would be, as well as any risks involved.

Would also love to hear about any topic such as this, where experience has shown a better way of doing things (for lack of better words).
