My Spider Bite

Post by Flesh Thorn »

I was bitten on the back of the leg by a variety of Bold Jumping Spider on Memorial Day weekend while sitting in a lawn chair. I never thought much of it until five days later I rub the back of my leg and a small piece of skin slothed off.

If this had been a Brown Recluse it would have been a whole lot worse or if I had a medical condition which made it hard to heal wounds. In my case a little topical antibiotic skin cream worked very well.

Here is a picture of a Bold Jumping Spider similar to the one that inflected this bite. They are amazing little creatures that stalk and kill their prey instead of building a web. I must have mashed the little bastard with the back of my thigh causing it to bite in self defense.

The whole purpose of my post is to demonstrate that there are insects other than the Brown Recluse whose bite can cause a necrotysing wound.

A wash of 3% H2O2 followed by applications of Neosporin 2X daily has cleared up the infection and the wound is now healing very well.
