Vitamins

Post by cams »

Any of you health guru's know if there's much difference in the quality of store bought vitamins?

Say, a CVS or Walgreens no name brand compared to GNC or more expensive versions of the same. I've noticed the price is remarkably different for mega-multi's and such.

I've been seriously supplementing since about 1981. There are HUGE differences in quality. Read the labels carefully to make certain of what you're taking. IMO, GNC, Vitamin World, and other specialty stores are better than the drug store brands.

I always try to find gelcaps, preferably with a liquid form of the vitamin as they absorb into the system more easily. This is especially true with amino acids. If I can't get liquid, then powder is second best. I'vee actually taken tablets that went through pretty much unscathed.

READ a lot before you decide what to do. There's a lot of conflicting information out there. Mostly, you'll have the goveernemnt researchers saying "supplements bad" and a lot of private reasearchers saying just the opposite for the same supplement.

CAVEAT EMPOR should be your rule. It's your body, take care how you use or abuse it.

Centrum Silver is the best multi for men of any age according to mens health and several medical professionals around the country. I hang around with a bunch of endurance types and have several friends that are MD's. I called bullshit the first time I heard that I should take a vitamin designed for men over 50 but have become a convert. GNC makes a mens vitamin that is great too but is more expensive than good ole centrum.

I have taken it for 2 years now.

English please. :?

I'm just looking at mega multi's bro, I ain't sticking needles in my skinny ass.

I used to buy the megaman gold at GNC, and they were around 30-40 dollars a bottle. Then I stopped for a few years and now bought what appears to be the same thing at CVS for 10.00, but it don't feel like it does a dang thing. Just wondering if I'm getting old or what, but it sounds like there is a diff. "Get what you pay for" I guess?

I've been taking this multi-vitamin for almost 20 years now.
Do your own research and I don't think you'll find a better vitamin out there.
These guys control the whole process from start to finish including growing their own organic vegatables.
