OSUT and Combatives

Post by IEDmagnet »

To number 2...I think it is practical.
A/3/505 PIR, 82nd 96-98
B/2/121 Inf, 48th BCT Iraq 05-06
B/1/118 Inf, 218th BCT Afghan 07

I'm not stupid, I'm crazy...there is a difference.

In my opinion the MACP has gone too "Ultimate Fighter" for it's own good. This has mostly been caused by the dbags that try very hard to teach at the school houses.

However, if you approach it as what it's designed to be (a H2H fighting system that takes a short time to become proficient in, as well as one of the few systems designed to be utilized while wearing battle armor) it can be a useful tool in you repertoire.

I've haven't been around Infantry OSUT since 08, but then only a select few got the chance to certify as level 1, complete with the punch drill and all. It may have expanded to allowing all trainees the chance the certify level 1. I can say with certainty that there is no level 2 or 3 in OSUT. The required training for level 1 can be completed as part of regular combatives training, during PT, etc. There is not enough time to get into level 2. They may teach some techniques from level 2, but you aren't going to get level 2 in OSUT.
