Hello Rangers, Admins, Veterans, Wives, Fellow Parents. Thanks for supplying this forum and filling it with such helpful information.

Our son is currently in OSUT at Ft. Benning, due to graduate in early September. After that, he's headed to Airborne, then pre-RASP and RASP, Lord willing.

I'm a husband of one, father of six sons, granddad of two.

Jim, my son is not yet on this site. I told him about it in my last letter. I'm sure he won't be on until after OSUT (only 21 more days!).

He entered the Army wanting to be in the Infantry. He's a hard worker and smart, so his First Sergeant approached him about accepting an Option 40 contract, which he was honored to do.

I'm a pastor in southern Indiana. One of my brothers was a Captain in the Army (mechanized Infantry). He's now a Senior Master Sergeant in the Air Force reserves. My dad was a lawyer and amateur war historian. He was not able to serve for health reasons. He would have been very proud of his grandson!

Our son graduated from OSUT yesterday (8-8-17). He's enjoying some leave time today and tomorrow with us, and then starting Airborne on Monday. Looks like he'll be doing his Airborne PT test in the cool rain of Hurricane Irma.

I'm not sure what else there is to tell about us, Ranger Jim. We are proud of our son, a good bit apprehensive of what's down the road for him (and us), but trusting in God's mercy.
