Introduction: Disciple

Post by Disciple »

Rangers,

I am PFC Disciple at Fort Gordon for AIT. I completed BCT at Fort Benning and am now finishing up to be a qualified 25B. I feel like I have a fiery soul and am lead by passion with the pursuit of discipline. I am not on a religious quest, but I have a strong relationship with Christ and feel his words of John 15:13 are imprinted on my life. "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." I believe I should live for the next life and I believe living the Ranger lifestyle will put me on the narrow path, the good path.

Ranger Jim,

I have earned the option 40 here at my AIT. I acquired a strong admiration for the infantry because of my Drill Sergeants and inquired about re classing. The discipline that they had and talked about within their former units was what Im after. Their response was to hold true to my word and what I enlisted to, and if I still felt the way I do when I am eligible to re enlist that would be the time. Option 40 was offered to me and it felt like the man upstairs was giving me the door if I wanted it, In my last 10 weeks here (7 to go) I have trained mentally and physically getting ready as best I can, but I feel like not being at OSUT will hold me back. I found this website and have been reading as much I can. I want to be the best 25b I can and do my job, but I feel unprepared for RASP tactics and combat wise.

Welcome Disciple, what are your APFT results, to include pull-ups. To be a Ranger you have to be all in, all the time. The road to becoming a Ranger is not easy, but it is rewarding. Think long and hard about what you want and as you think about it, think about someday down the road when your grandkids ask you what you did in the army and you say, 'I was a Ranger, a member of the 75th Ranger Regiment. You've got to want it to get it. Give everything you've got, ever time you give and never, ever quit! RLTW

Do not worry about RASP they will teach you what you need to know to be successful. Worry more about the physical and mental preparation.

Rangerjd,

My APFT results are; 80 push ups, 78 sit ups, 13:10 2 mile. I can do 8 strict no kip wide arm pull ups, and 10 with kipping. We PT here 5 days a week as a company and weekends I do on my own. I do not want to show up sub-par and end up wasting slot for a better soldier. I want to succeed and I know talk is cheap, therefore any guidance I am willing to follow relentlessly. I do not want complacency.

Your PT scores are not to bad, keep pushing for more everyday. What is your 5 mile run time and 12 mile road march time? Remember, you want to go into this in the best shape possible, but it is your mind that matters. Your body will do whatever your mind tells it to do. Train your mind to continue to push the envelope of whatever you are doing. Give everything you've got, every time you give and never, ever quit! RLTW

Stretch, Breathe, and establish your pace. Relax your grip and don't waste energy swinging your arms around like an asshole. As you've established your pace, concentrate on elongating your stride and then resume pace at elevated stride. Your 2 mile looks good, so you should easily attain a sub 35 if not sub 32.
