Intro- ranger19a

Post by ranger19a »

Greetings Rangers,

It's great to see a organized, well-disciplined and moderated online community for Rangers and their families. I've been lurking here for a little while and decided to finally sign up.

As my username suggests I'm a Ranger-qualified Armor officer. I just graduated with class 1-14 along with 98 other Soldiers, 2 Airmen, 2 foreign allies, and a Marine (a good friend of mine, went straight thru with me). School was definitely a defining event in my Army career thus far, very difficult, humbling and I learned a lot about myself and others (I'm sure all you Rangers can relate). I don't regret it even a tiny bit.

Anyway, thanks for welcoming me and I'll get to work on my signature and avatar when I get to a computer.

RLTW!

Brandenberger ring any bells?
Yeah I knew him! Some called him Berger. He was a good guy, I don't know how it took him that long to graduate. He wasn't in my squad.

Well, I went to University of South Florida in Tampa. I branched Armor even though I wanted IN, but I ended up liking that outcome just fine. ARC was a great course to go to right before Ranger and ABOLC actually wasn't that bad.
I went to AASLT as a cadet but not Airborne, sadly... I had to choose between it and CTLT with an Infantry unit. That turned out to be a great experience though, I think I learned more in those 3 weeks than in the previous 3 years of ROTC combined.

Since I went to Ranger as a leg I planned on going to Airborne in January with a lot of the NAP's from class 1-14, but on day 4 or 5 of the Florida FTX I fractured my foot and the doctors are telling me that they won't let me pass the Airborne physical for at least 6 months. It's a real buzzkill- who ever heard of a leg Ranger?!

Try all the WWII Ranger battalions (all 6 of them). We had a platoon of NAPs in my class. I think we will see more IN/AR crossover as everyone gets used to Benning training.

Well then I'm in good company either way. My class had a good number of NAPs too, most if not all are going to BAC in January though.

I failed to mention the 5307 Composet Group (Provisional) or Merril's Marauders.
