Intro - Maggie

Post by Magstress »

Hi all,

I'm Maggie - new Ranger mom and old army wife :). I found this site a few weeks ago while trying to find out about the 75th. We just returned from Benning last night as my son graduated from RASP on Friday. He went to OSUT last May on an option 40 contract and here we are. My husband has been in the army for almost 25 years and has just a few months left before retirement. While he did attend ranger school many moons ago, he was not in the 75th so this is all new to me - hence my research. I've found in the past few months that being an army mom is a heck of a lot different than being an army wife.

So far, I've learned that the Ranger Regiment takes far better care of the family than the regular army does. After graduation, they held an information session for the parents/spouses. The 1SG answered every last question and was very patient. That rarely happens in typical army units. The answers provided seemed to be honest and transparent and again, something I rarely see and I've been around many a family briefing.

My son is going to be assigned to 1/75 and I am pretty happy about that given we are at Bragg. Hopefully, I'll learn a lot from you all here and hopefully meet some other Ranger moms/dads.

Welcome MOM. I'm sure you saw me at the graduation, shaved head gray beard. Tell that new Ranger I'll come visit him if he doesn't at least come on here and say hello.
I never wore a cape, but I still have my dog tags.
