centermass- That knife is sweet, but I ain't shelling out $1500 for one. We have a gear-do in my unit who has a Scarab. That is a nice knife, but at $350-$400, i'll just use my issued Benchmade.

DixieRat and cams- I do own a Gerber MK II and I am never letting it go. That knife could skin an elephant. I love it.

1500.00? RU kidding me?

Hell no. Halo's are cool, just never cared for the SA where you have to recock the thing.

Now, if money was no object?

Here's some of Marfiones extremes: (Makora and Scarab)

Nothing like a little lust.........

Custom Makora, ray skin inlays and a Damascus spear

Custom Makora, SS bubble inlays, mirror polished blade

Next 2: Scarab, DE executive with Damascus steel and titanium hardware

I think it would do nicely carving up a terrorist... nicely indeed.

And I use to have a Gerber MKII, but came back to the barracks after a
long week end and found it broken in half hidden behind my wall locker.
Never found out which of my Ranger Buddies did it either.

My perfect knife... I think I will have to build it to be everything I
want in a knife.......

other than that I have a nice Al-Mar Shadow

and my current work horse is a slightly older version of this SOG

Anyone ever get the chance to use a ballistic knife in training?

Were they an effective weapon or just an idea that went the way of the Do-Do?

Ah Fuck, here we go again.......Look  , blades are like firearms and pussy....You will look forever but will never find one 100% to your standards. The Romans didn't, nor the Crusaders, or the Islamics...The Japanese did, I guess....but here goes-

I own- (fixed blades, only my best out of the "collection")

-Randall #1 fighter.
-Chris Reeve Project 1.
-Mission knives, titanium fighter.
-LF&C vintage WWI knuckle duster, since Doughboys and Tommys knew a thing or two about H2H combat.

(Folding blades, only my best out of the "collection")

-Microtech Scarab in Urban camo
-Benchmade Emerson Auto that I had when in Batt.
-Chris Reeve Sebenza
-Leatherman "Wave"
-Victornox "Ranger"

Daggers
-Cold Steel Safe Keeper I
-Gerber MKII
-Sykes Fairbain stilletto

What I recommend -

-Randall "Attack" model (I don't own one, yet.)
-Chris Reeve Sebenza
-Cold Steel Safe Keeper.
-Leatherman "Wave"

On a budget? Well then......,
-KABAR fighting knife.
-Buck 110 folder, or CRKT M16.
-Victornox "Ranger"
-Cold Steel Safe Keeper.

"It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it."

-What I have gathered from others in past generations is that there is nothing worse than some pot metal piece of shit "issued" blade braking when you need it the most.

-The only individuals that truly have the knowledge would be Col. Lewis Millet and his men that made the last Bayonet charge during the Korean War. But then, those were M1 Garands and not M4 Carbines.....There are some differences between the two as far as heft is concerned.

If I had the time, money and Dojo, I would learn the Wakazashi (Iaido) like the back of my hand, and hide it like my sister's virginity (If I had a sister) to keep from being fucked with by comrades like all of you....

Accepting HEAT rounds now.......

Also,... Hajis fear blades for some reason.?.?.?.?.....

"Hey Doc, your one of those fuckin' gear-do's arn't ya? Well, let me borrow your binos, front sight tool, bleeder kit, Zippo, shit paper, aspirin, sleeping pills, inner-sleeping bag, a dip to wake up, tobasco sauce, A-1 sauce, a bag of fuckin' microwave popcorn, extra sunglasses, 100 mph tape, batteries, drivers license - cause' your too young to drink (Article 15 for me, BTW), bacalava, smoking jacket, gloves, plate carrier (I shit you not..), 50 bucks.....Your sister's fucking virginity...Cause' I am hard and don't have the shit, therefore I don't carry it (too cheap to buy the shit) and consequently, have to borrow it (take it) off of you..."

The above quotes came from ranks above, and below myself.

-And becasue I am a "Doc" and would give my fucking shirt over to a Ranger whenever I am asked or implied to do so, I cave-in every time......But then I have gone through some booze at this point in the evening. So I hoist this drink to all you "Gear-do's" out there, for remembering the shit that others left behind becasue they felt they were "too hard" or "too simple"...or too cheap to bring/buy it and think of it themselves....

After all there is the Scooter's beer budget that they must adhere stricly to as well as the "I have got to look good for the base whores" budget that must be adhered to.

I had to read this twice, first time I could have sworn that it said you would hide your short sword in your sister's virginity....
