I see you were in Mattoons platoon. THAT was one crazy SOB. Best PSG in the company, IMO, although SFC Allen (2nd plt?) was a close 2nd. Did you know Kluemper? he was a SSG when I was there. Beyond crazy!McD wrote:Welcome! I remember Cpt. Ohl well ... not to mention 1SGT Shallivan, best Hungarian Top I ever had! :D

Then CPT Ohl was the toughest man I ever met, I think. Drove himself harder than he drove us, and that's saying something. I hated his guts, but if the SHTF, he'd be the man I'd wanna serve with.Silverback wrote:Welcome FOG hope you like the site. I have the privelege of serving alongside of LTC Ohl, he was one of the hardest Rangers I ever met.

I saw Kluemper at the reunion this summer. He is working down in Tumwater Wa as a funeral director. I remember SFC Allen also. Mattoon was a bad man! Liked to blow things up!!! From what my contacts tell me he still does.dixierat wrote:I see you were in Mattoons platoon. THAT was one crazy SOB. Best PSG in the company, IMO, although SFC Allen (2nd plt?) was a close 2nd. RANGER DIXIE RAT
I WAS WONDERING IF YOU REMEMBER A SFC HAUGH THAT LEFT 2/75 JUST ABOUT THE TIME YOU WERE GETTING SETTLED IN.
HE WAS OUR FIRST SARGENT OVER AT A/CO 3/47. MEANEST SOB I EVER KNEW, BUT THE BEST TOP I EVER SAW TOO!

Sgt. Kluemper was one of the Instructors for my R.I.P. class up there on North Fort; and yes; he smoked us so bad that there were times when I thought that he very well might be directing my funeral
But with that said he was really cool once we all graduated and to this day I have nothing but respect for that man.
