Hello all. My name is Chet. Spent 26 years in and retired in 2008. I was in 1/75 as a Forward Observer from '83-'85. Was assigned to HHC but worked as an FO for B Co. my first year, where I participated in Urgent Fury, and A Co. my second year. I kicked around the Army for a few years before going to the SFQC in '89. I was with 3/7 SFGA until I became an SF Warrant Officer in '94. '94-''02 was with 2/7 SFGA. '02-'06 worked as an Advisor to a Colombian Counter Narco-Terrorist Joint Task Force. '06-'08 worked at the Special Warfare Center at Bragg.

The way I became a Ranger and have earned the small amount of success I have had in life has been mostly due to one quality - determination. Lefty.

Thanks all. It's funny how, while in the Army, you're so focused on the job that connecting with old friends doesn't really cross your mind. Now that I am retired, it has become more important. I spent about 22 of my 26 years in SOF, 2 in 1/75 and almost 20 in SF. I have joined both the SF Association and the Army Ranger Association because, truth be told, being around the regular Army (my current employment as a DAC) is rough. They just don't see the world the same. They're not bad, just different and it has started to sink in how much I took for granted the true, special nature of both the Ranger Regiment and Special Forces. Proud to be associated with you all.
