Introduction

Post by fireranger79 »

Hello
I just joined this forum. I was in in C Co 3rd plt. 1/75 from 79-81 I can't remember a lot names, too many people and different teams.

I graduated Ranger school class 10-80 ( Swamp Fox) I,m the in the mid lower left of ranger school pic sitting between the two guys that said they were from Zaire. Can't miss them. The ranger on my left in the pic is fron the 2nd batt. He was morale officer because of his name.

During the 1st phase before we did darby. We did a land nav coarse and two Israel soldiers got lost and were suppose to blow on some whistles if they got lost. They found the main road and walked back to the class room. While we were looking for them in the woods.LOL

There were also some West Point cadets in my class that were put out of school in the Fla. phase because on a night assault they crossed a stream and went back to the main building. I was told they don't allow cadets in Ranger school now.

I remember everyone one in C Co chipped in 5 bucks and we bought out the gator pub I think that's what it was called, some place in Fla. (I won't say where) and got drunk as dogs. I can't remember names but one Ranger was carried in, in a sleeping bag dressed as a dancer/singer with a mop on his head and we all drank from pitchers.
I just retired from Hillsborough County Fire Rescue as a Firefighter/Paramedic.

I was assigned to the ladder truck/heavy rescue. Then got my paramedic because of more money. Once I was put on the Rescue Box I never got to sleep any more LOL. They never used the Ladder truck alot. The only thing that Hillsborough did though was have the medics that pulled shifts on the box fight fire and run medical calls. I miss the engines but not the box. There was way too many retirement parks in my batt. We called them Gods waiting room LOL

I got so drunk that night I peed my fart sack....not a good feeling....the Ranger in the sleeping bag was a CPL from WPNS platoon, a 90 gunner and I can't remember his name either. That was a sick night at the Gator Lounge.... Who did you hang with from 3rd Platoon?

I don't know how it is with your Dept, but our Training Officer is at Head Quarters downtown. That sucks. I bet you do miss the station life. No more 24 on 48 off and no R day every 3rd week. You work a 5 day work week with holidays off. That's a plus. I do miss the the job though. Is your Fire and EMS combined or seperate. Tampa, Hillsbrough Co and most of Fla has some great depts and they take good care of their people.
