Introduction

Post by Mountaincop »

Rangers: Though I have been actively reviewing the forum on this site for about a year, I felt that I should formally introduce myself. I served in the US Army from 1977 to 1978 in the 984th MP Company (Ft. Carson) and From 1978 to 1980 in the 529th MP Company (Heidelberg Germany).

My son (who is currently at RIP hold) and I found your site while he was exploring his options for service to our great country. (I wish that there had been this type of information before I enlisted!) As prior service in one of the "soft" MOS' I certainly did not have the background or information to provide anything other than my support and encouragement to him as he investigated what it means to try and become a RANGER!

I can't explain to all of you how absolutely proud I was to pin the blue cord onto his Class A's and watch as my youngest son pinned jump wings onto his ACU's last week! The whole family is very much hoping to have the honor of watching him don his tan beret in the future! I don't know what it's like to be a Ranger, but I hope to know what it's like to be a Ranger's dad!

Thanks to all of you for your service and sacrifice!

I find it comforting to know there are parents out there raising young men like your son, who aspire to be on the tip of the spear. Keep us posted.

Well done Sir, and thanks.

RIP 05-09 graduation

Post by Mountaincop »

Rangers: My family and I were fortunate enough to be able to attend the graduation of class 05-09. Watching my son, and his fellow soldiers, don those tan berets is truly one of the highlights of my life! Having had the opportunity to hear stories of how motivational the Cadre were, it was a distinct honor to meet and speak with some. As a father, it is good to know that not only are those men warriors in every sense of the term, but are the caliber of men that we can entrust our sons to in a time of war!

Thanks again to the members on this site. I believe that the information contained was very valuable to my son's success.
