Its been years

Post by Doozerstick »

I used to post on this site before I joined in the Army back in '04 or whenever that was. I had an option 40 and all of that and everyone on this site was a huge help. Anyway, long story short, I threw up during the RIP PT test and they booted my ass (haha excuses, I know), and I ended up with 1/501 PIR up in Alaska. Deployed to Iraq last year, got shot though was RTD after a week or so. Now I'm out of the Army and shamming like a champ doing the college thing. I'm sure nobody remembers me but I thought I'd just give an update anyway.

Well, it wasn't the act of puking exactly, it was the fact that I stopped running to do it hehe. It was a big class and I think they were trying to trim it down. For a while I beat myself up about it, but looking back I wouldn't change it for the world. The friends I made and fought with were some of the greatest men I will ever know.

Well, I recently just found out that what of my friends that I went to Basic and RIP with (he ended up in 3rd Bat, I believe) died in Afghanistan back in '05. It kind of shocked me that he'd been gone that long and I hadn't even realized that much time had passed. Anyway, it just reminded me of Basic which reminded me of this site, and I guess I just wanted to say thankyou to everyone for all the advice I got here way back when.

We think so. Though over the next few weeks he sniped both my squad leader and PSG, both RTD after a short time just like me though (luckiest platoon ever). Eventually one of our snipers got him and two of his buddies.

I met Damien's parents and his teammates at the last Rendezvous. His parents are wonderful people, and I'm hoping to see them again this summer. They painted a memorial on their Hummer in his honor. Sorry for your loss, Amigo.

Thank you for posting the pictures Ranger Earthpig, but I can't see them, probably because I'm not a "validated Ranger member of ArmyRanger.com" as it says on the gallery page.
