Ops NCO Intro per SOP

Post by Ops NCO »

Evening Rangers,

I'm a former 11B2P who served with 1st Plt, B Co 1/508 Abn Inf (later reflagged as 3/505 PIR) at Bragg from 86 to 90. Got out, but stayed in NC, only to be recalled from the IRR for DS. (Didn't make it into theatre; was still training in Germany when the deal started and ended.) As my username indicates, I spent a year as the company Ops NCO (was actually the company RTO, but there was no such slot so I filled in as a Sp4 before returning to the line).

I did have the good fortune of having as my former team leader the Ranger who is currently the Regimental Sergeant Major. I tracked him down a couple of years ago and give him a yell every few months. We were in the squad that won the very first Gavin Competition for 3rd Brigade back in 86. Hope to go back next year as I understand they still run the competition.

I've enjoyed reading the boards over the last few months, and appreciate you letting me visit your house. I decided to sign on, as we are living in the time of heroes, and I enjoy being among those few who realize what the phrases "high standards" and "sacrifice" really means.
