Thank you Ranger BMF175, I'm looking foreward to everything that the military has to offer me. I had heard the same thing about ROP being my only chance to make it to the regiment.

I had a friend here who used to be with 3rd Batt. who was trying to get me a slot at RIP, but he was assigned to 2nd Batt. after he finished ROP and couldnt' pull it off before he cleared.

Right now I'm thinking my best bet it to keep motivated, keep fit and focus on the here and now, I'll have my opportunity later on to mold my carreer into what I want it to be.

Also I had one question. Why is it that they are only sending E4's and higher to Pre-Ranger? Is that nationwide or just unit specific?
Until you get that PT score up you won't be offered a shot at Pre-Ranger. I'd suggest you find a tabbed E-5 or 6 to latch onto for a mentor type thing. Preferably, one with some time in RGT. Get the PT score up then go through your COC. The BCT CSM will have the ultimate say, but it will bear more weight with COC support and an NCO verifying you. Its political, but then again, so are BCT COCs.

FYI, I'm not pulling this out of my ass. I ran the 101st 2nd BDE Pre-Ranger PT for a while and got to give my input into who got slots (granted, this was before the BCT re-alignment). We didn't have anything formal in place, so as a BN S-3 Air I (and a few scouts from the BNs) got to get folks up and in shape.

Anyway, getting a shot at RS is not that hard. There are suprisingly (disappointingly) few bubbas wanting a shot. I can name 20 cats that came into the BDE wanting a shot from day one who stuck with it, worked hard, and got their shit.

Good luck.

Welcome fellow FISTER.
