Funny, very funny. Biggest mistake I made as a cherry butter bar was letting my CO talk me out of a refresher jump after RS. Ah well. Made me a better man.
Yeah, you're right about the platoon, it was 3rd not 2nd (details get fuzzy with time and MULTIPLE units). Terrible Tommy T was the PSG at the time.
I was the 2nd SQD LDR (JGavin is a screen name not my actual).
If I recall right that was your first or second jump with Division. We loaded your ruck down with about 90lbs of rocks and weights but you foiled our attempts and jumped the RTO ruck. We were pissed that you escaped our plan but in hindsight I would say that it probably would have killed you considering your hard landing. I do recall however that you told us that you spent six hours on a gurney waiting for meds and the hospital pogues wouldn't help you.
You weren't a dick, just a new LT. I was probably one of those NCOs that told you to F--- off though.
Kosovo rotation for 101, huh. We came in after you from 10th Mtn and I remember repainting all of your eagles to our powder kegs. Funny how that shit goes with Division pride and all - Big Army.
Gavin, I remember you well. My back twinges with pain recalling that jump. Terrible Tommy T was also called 'BADUPSA' by old Jeff W the 2 PL. It stood for 'Balls, Dick, Ass and Pussy' as in what he smelled like after PT.
First day in the platoon, Tommy T comes out of the shower with his towel on and sits in the chair (his chair, now my chair since we only had one desk). Needless to say, his nutsack is on said chair. He says something wlecoming me to the platoon, then gets up and says, "Hey, sir, this is YOUR chair." Um, thanks Sarge. I think I'll stand.
Good to hear from you. Looks like you landed in a good unit.
Old Tommy T. His best ever was at pre jump for a BN operation and he was going through the brief:
"Towed jumper procedures-if you have become a towed parachutist, maintain a good tight body position and immediately activate your canopy release assemblies using the hand assist method".
I think it was StillaKilla that then shouted out "and go straight into your fifth point of performance-Land."
Old TT was completely confused. Good times.
To be fair to TT though, he did care for the troops and tried real hard, but he was burned out after all his years in Regt.

Just to clarify, this wasn't me shitting on you. I thought you might want to address the young man that said it.

I didn't take it that way. Feel free to shit away. I can take it. I have a healthy ego and a not so healthy back.

I will always have a fond spot for TT. The pained look in his eyes when he came to see me in the hospital told me exactly how much he cared for his bubbas (even his retarded 2LT bubbas). He and the 1SG, good dudes. Now that CO of ours...different story altogether.

Based on the public display of affection in the previous posts, one could be easily misled.
