Hello, I am the son of a Ranger. Unfortunately, he was killed in an accident before my birth, and I never got the chance to know him. As such, I am trying to reach out and find others who did know him.
I am looking for anyone who might have known, or even served with William Frederick (Billy) Cotter. He was killed in 1972, while living in Suffolk, VA. I do know Billy served in-country during VietNam, but do not know the specifics.
If anyone knew Billy, I would take it as a personal favor if you could share something about him.
To those who have served, and still serve, Thank You All.....

Thank you all for the welcome...
I do not know the specifics of his service, merely that he was a Ranger. I want to say he went through Airborne school in late 65 or early 66 though. Maybe that might help somewhere.
Thank you all for your help. From what I have read of the boards so far, and the ones I recognize as routine posters, there is no better family, than the family of Rangers.....

You can request a copy of your dad's military recoords from the personell center. You'll need his name, ssn and maybe some other information.
