Introduction

Post by Swampy »

By way of introduction.I enlisted Airborne in Mar `68.Went through basic at Bragg and AIT at Ft.McClellan. Next onto jump school.Graduation day from J.S. found me travelling to Kelly Hill at Ft.Benning to join a unit composed of D(lrp)151 Inf from Indiana NG and later D(lrp) 17 Inf arrived from Germany. The two units merged into one and after the D lrp 151 unit deployed to germany the rest of the unit was redesignated Co.A Ranger 75th Inf Abn in Feb of 1969. In May of that year, having turned 18 in Feb, I voluntarily came down on the levy for service in Vietnam.Upon arrival there,I was assigned to the 173rd Airborne but never really hit the ground with them as I volunteered from their jungle school in ChaRang Valley to go to Co.C Ranger 75th Inf Abn.I served a tour with Charlie Rangers on Ranger Team 12 and then Ranger team 11.When Rocky left I became TL of Ranger Team 11.
My references there include some great Rangers who are members of this board (NAMES EDITED FOR PERSEC).I served a second tour most of which was in yet another Ranger company, however,I do not associate with that company........

Reading stories of you old guys had a big impression on my young mind and inspired me to become a Ranger. books like Charlies Rangers, Behind enemy lines, Chickenhawk, MACV SOG and others served to fuel my desire for adventure.

It now does my heart proud to be around the very peoeple that were my hero's growing up when everyone else was worried about sports stars.

Thank you for inspiring so many of us with you bold ass exploits!!

Now I must ask you to respectfully PISS OFF!!!

And welcome to the site Warrior!!
