update

Post by rickJ »

Hello everyone. I have not been on in awhile, I have been finishing up AIT as a 21 Bravo. I wanted a job as a 13F but security matters at the time I enlisted kept me from that for now. I am back seeking more knowledge. I still intend to find my way as a Ranger I just do not know how now that I am in the Army, I have heard that is next to impossible. Any help or insight would be of tremendous help to me, I am ready to train or do what ever I need to do to get there.
I would rather live one day as a lion than 10,000 as a lamb.

What is 21 Bravo? And have you been assigned a duty station?

Go here:

https://www.benning.army.mil/75thranger ... /index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

First determine if the Regiment even has slots for 21-whateverthatwas.

You might try at least getting jump school if you can't get RIP. Once you're at Benning, a professional visit to the Ranger liason NCO might get you to the door as well.
If all else fails for now, be the very best 21-whateverthatwas you can be, learn all the "army stuff" you can handle and get in better shape. Then, after your tour with whoever you wind up with is over, you can submit a 4187 (that's an Army form requesting schools or reassignment) or reup for Regiment. A successful combat zone tour will help you to bring something to the Regiment as well.

Thank you 42V- the above site does show 21B slots, but there must be very, very few; which means openings will seldom be avaliable and will be highly competitive.
Apply often, timing is everything as they'll only be accepting 21B applications when one of the serving 21Bs is due to rotate, get promoted or ETS.
There are several airborne engineer battalions at Bragg so your motivation won't be wasted.
