My request for the 11X Option 40 was denied due to the fact that I have a medical waiver (for a condition that I do not have). After 6 hours of debate, phone calls, and being put in a room with 2 recruiters trying to convince me to sign a standard 11X contract with no airborne, I signed my Option 40. I ship to Ft. Benning on the 16th of August, 2007. I would like to thank all of the Rangers and members of the Armed Forces of this site that have guided me and provided me with the information I need to succeed.

Option 40 secured.
Good man. I hope you've been PT'ing and getting mentally prepared. Re-read the FAQ's and Stickies if you haven't already.

Your tenacity paid off, you might just make it

Nice job standing up to the "man". Remember when you get in you are no longer a civilian with rights so rememeber that.

Here's some parting advice for ya

They can't kill you (on purpose)
They have to feed you (eventually)
Everything comes to an end (scroll or not it will end)

Good luck

Congrats on the "Can Do" attitude, and for sticking to it. Always look forward, head high... and NEVER look back. Again, good job. Stay focused, trap shut, and feet / knees together... Quitting is not an option.

All right, Barrett, A man has only one opportunity to make a positive initial impression and you have done it twice. A couple observations for you:
1. Ensure that you take the language test for Portuguese as soon as possible.

2. You can take a number of "end of course" tests at the Education Center and earn additional college credits. Frankly, you are not going to have much time to attend evening classes if you are in one of the Ranger battalions.

Overall, you appear to be doing well, please keep up the good work. Never, never quit!!!

Welcome back, my friend to the show that never ends...

By not signing the regular 11x contract and sticking to your guns you have taken one of the steps of becoming a Ranger. Never settle for 2nd best.
