Introduction
First off... Howdy. My name is Mark, and as my username suggests I am in ROTC. My Father is in the military and currently around 7500 miles in a certain direction from where we live.
Ever since I was little I've wanted to serve in the Army and I am now seeing that goal to fruition.
I stumbled across this site and have enjoyed reading virtually everything on it and seek to take the wealth of knowledge here and put it to good use.
I'm 18, in college and soon to be 19, I joined ROTC as soon as I could and look forward to becoming an Officer.
My ROTC instructor is a Ranger and I am more than certain you guys know of him, he makes us work hard and until I met him I never vomited so much at PT, he is also one of the most squared away guys I have ever met and it is just awe inspiring at how good he is at his job. I can almost feel sorry for the guys on the other side with men like him in the Army.
I've always wanted to go Armor, but after meeting my instructor I've been seriously considering Light Infantry in order to serve with the best at what they do.
After finding this site I decided to register and introduce myself and do my best to get advice and learn from those who have been there and done that, so that my time as a dumbass butter bar is as short as possible and I can earn the respect of the men I will lead. As my Father tells me, the job I have chosen in the Army is one of the toughest in the world and one that bears a great responsibility and my mistakes will have consequences.
I one day hope to be half as smart as my Father, half as competent as my Instructor, and every bit as skilled as humanly possible.
I look forward to learning at the hands of the best of the Infantry.
...
I'll wager this is the part where I STFU and go find an avatar, right?
